in the above discussion
ਗੁਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਸੋਇ
No guru ever called himself the guru or God. it is us how we interpret it
my interpretation
O Nanak the guru is God or the guru and God are the same
Nanak used twice is to balance the couplet

are the rays of the sun, the sun?
they are the Sun, and they are not the Sun at the same time...depending on how you look at it...
as a whole, the rays of the sun, cannot exists without the sun...they are one and whole...one entity...

in the beginning was the word (shabad Guru) ... the word (shabad) was with God...the word (shabad) was God.
its all the same as IK Ong Kaar.... from the one\IK\God came the shabad, from which came the creation...

Shabad Guru is like the rays of the Sun...if we follow the rays of the sun we reach the sun...but technically, sat in my garden with the rays of the Sun penetrating my skin, lighting up my garden...i am already with the Sun. also... :)

Shabad is within me, within you...within everything...if we attach our consciousness to it..it allows us to experience the whole..the IK...the one.. :)

Hence why Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji said the Shabad was his Guru...

just my thoughts ji

god bless
