An excellent steek of Guru Granth Sahib by Dr. Darshan Singh is now available . The steek is an excellent effort on the part of Dr. Darshan Singh who has given his everything to bring out this masterpiece for the Sikhs around the world .

This steek is an excellent Translation of complete Guru Granth Sahib ji alongwith the English transliteration of each and every line , with the bani in Punjabi accompanied by its meaning or translation in English language .

This effectively means that Sikhs around the world who are not so well versed in Gurmukhi but know English can benefit immensely from this innovation . The best part is that each and every line of Gurbani is accompanied by its English translation which explains the meanings of the verse and the transliteration which gives the correct pronunciation of the bani to the english reader as it would be spoken in Punjabi in its original form . This means the reader can now both recite Bani of Guru Granth Sahib Ji accurately as well as understand it thoroughly . This helps a great deal if one is to live his life according to the instructions of the living Guru – Guru Granth Sahib ji which are contained in His Divine Word which is the Bani of Guru Granth Sahib ji .

This English translation is therefore great news for the Sikh Community around the world .who can now understand Gurbani more easily than ever before . The Translation is available online from B. Jawahar Singh Kirpal Singh & Company.

Sukhmani Sahib Excellent English Translation

An excellent English translation of Sukhmani Sahib has been released . This is a great news for the sikh community because it brings to them the message of bani of Sukhmani Sahib in an easy to understand form . The Book titled “Sukhmani Sahib English Translation and Transliteration - The Divine Sukhmani Sahib” by Jaspinder Singh Grover contains the original bani of Sukhmani Sahib in Punjabi followed by its English transliteration and translation .

Sukhmani Sahib is the pathway to pure and eternal bliss . It is believed that reading of this bani regularly enables one to find Supreme and everlasting happiness in life . But because the bani is originally written in Punjabi the ones who are well acquainted with only English find it impossible to understand bani . But this English translation bridges this gap for them and makes it possible for them to read the bani in its original form ( which is accomplished by the English transliteration) and understand its message and substance ( from the English translation that has been clearly and succinctly done) . Sukhmani Sahib being one of the most widely read bani , this book solves a great purpose .

The translation is available online from B. Jawahar Singh Kirpal Singh & Company. Paypal and currency conversion are available.

Guru Granth Sahib English Translation By Gopal Singh

One of the best and the foremost translations of Guru Granth Sahib ji is the one by Dr . Gopal Singh . This is a great news for the Sikhs and Sikhism enthusiasts in all corners of the world who yearn to understand the bani of Guru Granth Sahib and implement its philosophy and beliefs in their practical life . Guru Granth Sahib ji is not a book but the soul of Sikhism . It is the living Guru of the Sikhs and their guiding light in all endeavours of life . Sikhs take daily instructions from Guru Granth Sahib in the form of ‘Hukamnamas’ to start their day with .

Thus Guru Granth Sahib is the most important and integral part of every true Sikh’s life . Understanding its Bani and thus the Divine Hukam (God’s Order ) is of utmost relevance . But since the bani is originally written in Gurmukhi it becomes very difficult for those who are well versed only in English to understand its meanings or read the bani . For their understanding this is a great Translation of Guru Granth Sahib by Gopal Singh Ji which goes a long way in simplifying things for them so that more effort can go into the practical implementation of these teachings in one’s life after understaning its real message and imbibing in ourself the virtues it commands us to .
This great English Translation of Guru Granth Sahib by Gopal Singh Ji is available online from B. Jawahar Singh Kirpal Singh & Company.

Re: Lives and Teachings of SikhGurus : Some Resources

Sat Naam,
I've read a couple of books by Harish Dhillon and I have to say, I'm not a big fan. While I appreciate that he likes to breathe some life and imagination into the dry recital of biographical facts, and he is a good writer, he is apparently on a campaign to methodically strip all Sikh history of any supernatural elements.
As he recounts the lives of the Gurus, whenever he encounters anything that smacks of a 'miracle', he takes it upon himself to re-imagine the incident without any metaphysical elements. By way of example, when recounting the incident of Guru Nanak in Mecca, in which the Kaaba appears wherever the Guru's feet are turned, Dhillon has it that as they turn his feet, the foolish muslims realize that wherever the feet point they see God's beautiful world, so God is everywhere.
To some it might be refreshing to hear our history reduced to down-to-earth logical facts; to me it's presumptuous and intrusive. While he is so intent to present these stories in their likely 'true' version, he is absolutely willing to engage in what is to me the much more unlikely and cloying habit of enveloping every figure in the sugary glow of 'saintliness'. If you're so devoted to cling to the true, on one hand, then why employ the trite and irksome angle of smothering every figure with saccharine, loving flawlessness on the other.
Every figure in the stories is always smiling lovingly, patiently understanding, absorbed in loving meditation, cheerfully explaining, shedding tears of joy all the time. No rough edges or human qualities here.
