Hinduism Vedic Sacrifices

I was discussing the utility of vedic sacrifices in a forum. Somebody argues...

"The sacrifices, now, do not always work the way they are supposed to because today there is no one who can pronounce the mantras properly. During Vedic ages they knew and so the sacrifices always yielded fruit. If we knew it we too could get results. But we have lost the knowledge so it is a hit and miss affair."

This is absolutely unverifiable. It is outrageous argument. How to reply ?

yeah critical
i agree with u, how can the people know tht the mantras they r reciting is wrong when they dont know them fully, and if the mantras r available in a written format and which most of them are and in sanskrit( although not widely known but still lots of ppl r conversant n have knowledge of the language) then y its not verifiable?
