Waheuguru Ji Ka Khalsa..Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh...Mai Ji...

I totally agree with you and Naraynjot Kaur Ji.... but I think you misunderstood my point. I higly regard girls coming to Gurdwara and learning something. I mean to say that many times you counter a girl not covering her head in Gurdwara. Moreover, they dont even care about covering their body with dupatta.... they wear such a low neck suit that more than half of thier cleavage is visible. Is it right ? I think not. Their parents are repsonsible for all this....Guru is against Muslims Burqa...but he also not encouraged to show off your body. Its nice that girls are coming to Gurdwara rather than wandering around...and who knows where...same thing applies to boys...

I hope you and Naraynjot Kaur will understand what I mean to say....

Chardi Kala to you...........

Narayanjot ji,

I agree that it is always the criminal who is responsible for committing the crime. Still, it's best not to be negligent. The price can be high.

As for those alternate Maryadas, do you have URLs for them? The SRM is easily found at the SGPC site; I do not know where to find the others. Or maybe they are here on SPN some place?

Mai ji

It will take me more than a couple of minutes to locate them. One you can find on the Damdami Taksal web site -- that is the Damdami rehit.

Another is of the Budda Dal and I am not sure at this very moment where they are on the net. I don't bookmark everything as I should. At some point one of us will get closure on the investigation.

coNarayanjot ji,

Thank you very much. It might be helpful to add a small section here at SPN to have copies of these or at least links to them. More work, I know, I know...

AdsKhalsa ji,

I cannot speak for Narayanjot ji, of course, but just for myself, I get what you are driving at. Covering the head is mandatory for males and females all. No one is permitted in the darbar sahib with head uncovered. If s/he has no covering, one will be provided.

As for the cleavage, I have more than once - discreetly, I hope - offered a young lady a scarf to cover her exposed breasts. I have never been turned down nor have I ever been treated rudely. The key is not to embarrass her, just make the point. As for very short skirts, I guess a large scarf would be necessary, lol. I do wonder about the parents.

I know I am from a different generation, but I am sure my Dad would never have let me out of the house, much less into the gurudwara improperly dressed.

I know that the healthy young male will have a physiological reaction to a scantily clad young female wherever they may be. Although she is certainly not responsible for his actions, I would think that simple courtesy would dictate that she not provoke him.

Simple courtesy...But that's another topic, I think.

errrrrrrrrrrrh! Thanks for the suggestion. We shall see.

Can I say something and don't want to be viewed as being difficult in this conversation -- but I have never seen anyone dressed in gurdwara exposing cleavage or in short skirts. I am starting to think that I am living a very provincial life. They do say that about the PA area.

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa...Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh........Mai Ji...

you are right..even I take the scraf and offer to those who roam in Gurdwara without covering their head. Last saturday I went to Gurdwara at 5.00 pm and saw a boy of age around 10-12 years wandering in Gurdwara without head gear. I told him that please cover your head, then at around 6.45 I told the same. Everytime I say, he goes to take the scraf but never cover his head. At 9.00 pm I saw him and he was the same... uncovered head. I told him again. Sometime I get excuses that childern doesn't listen to us, blah..blah.... and so on. I tell them, if he/she does not wear the school dress while going to school, do you excuse them or does school allows such thing.

Only difference is thar ...we are not seeing Guru there... we are not feeling Guru...that's why we have excuses....

How can I tell girls or women to cover their breasts...they will say that I am seeing them....

I moved to VA last december and first time I saw a lady having langar without bothering that her head is covered or not.... I told her to cover her head... later that night a lady with age of around 50's said me that you did right thing...you are first person I am seeing who is concered about this...even management don't care about this... Frankly speaking I realized that management is the main cause behind all such things...they should politely inform all such things to Sangat.... but whole management is worried about their portfolio.... and doesn't want to be bad in eyes of people....They are servent of Guru, Sangat...or of people....?

Naraynjot Kaur Ji...

Its really great if such things are not happening at PA...I salute to them...well in VA I saw this thing happening ...

the point is...........who will bell the cat...............

who will bell the cat......>>>>>>>>>>>???

Me thinks sometimes we have too many "bells"...and so as a consequence we have to go "actively look around" for "cats" to bell....
I would rather a cat escaped me..than carry around bells..hoping i will come across one and bell it...
I Go to Gurdwra to meet the GURU/Enjoy the Sangat/Kiratn...and langgar and go home..slightly richer in everything.
Once i overheard two Gyanis *( Punjab imports_) literally fighting for a chance to sit at a certain elevated place from where its possible to see "everything"....as part Management of teh Gurdwara....I decided I would henceforth occupy that place and "see" for myself what was to be seen..I sat and sat faithfully for months...and "saw" NOTHING...It MUST be all in the MIND..we see what we want to see...
Guru Amardass Ji in Anand Sahib has advised us to use our Eyes, our ears, etc wisely...to "see" what Guru intends for us...IF we follwo that advice faithfully..we will ONLY SEE what the Guru intends us to see..beleive me..its TRUE as Gurbani doesnt lie..and we have no need to look away, hand out scarfs, admonish anyone..or be embarrassed...INNER MORALITY is a good Cover for our eyes and ears.

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa...Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh...Gyani Ji...

I agree with you at many of the points...but at certain point I wish to say that if we are seeing wrong..we have to object that and tell them the right way....

I agree with you that many people come to Gurdwara to see only wrong things... but not everybody... Sitting at a place you will not find much of the things...I come to such instances while doing sewa of Parshad, Langar, etc.

I can not keep quiet if I see wrong... I will defenitely convey them my feeling and inform them.... It doesn't mean that I go to Gurdwara to find out such things...

We kept quiet..that why we are suffering...whole community is suffering.... A incident... Its casual here...everybody roams in langar hall with shoes...they are preparing langar wearing shoes...without covering their heads...simultaneously eating the refreshments... once I was kneeding the flour and I told a lady to please wash your hands after having refreshements.... before cooking chapattis...she said that see I cleaned all this...I am not like that... I said sorry..but I just thought and informed you......we are preparing langar for Guru...and its my duty....Well I am not complaing ...and everybody is not like this...but yes its common here....and its not so common in India............

Gyani Ji...what do you think about our duties to Guru in such cases ? Shall we keep quiet and don't guide the new generation... or shall we inform them...?

Chardi Kala........

If he's doing that in public it must be a SERIOUS addiction.
OR
Is he sexually deprived? How is his sex life?
or both?

I think he needs help, if he is outcasted now, he is gone...

AdsKhalsa ji,

When you say

,
I must agree. You'd have to either get your wife or one of the more discreet "Aunties" to privately talk to her. But br honest, you were seeing the young lady's charms, were you not?

Somehow this brings to mind one of my favourite Zen stories (maybe it fits, maybe not):

Two Zen monks, Tanzan and Ekido, traveling on pilgrimage, came to a muddy river crossing. There they saw a lovely young woman dressed in her kimono and finery, obviously not knowing how to cross the river without ruining her clothes.
Without further ado, Tanzan graciously picked her up, held her close to him, and carried her across the muddy river, placing her onto the dry ground. Then he and Ekido continued on their way. Hours later they found themselves at a lodging temple.

And here Ekido could no longer restrain himself and gushed forth his complaints: “Surely, it is against the rules what you did back there…. Touching a woman is simply not allowed…. How could you have done that? … And to have such close contact with her! … This is a violation of all monastic protocol…” Thus he went on with his verbiage. Tanzan listened patiently to the accusations.

Finally, during a pause, he said, “Look, I set that girl down back at the crossing. Are you still carrying her?”

Mai ji...Gurfateh Ji.

Exactly my point.
Its NOT idly said...."BEAUTY".....is IN the EYES..of the "BEHOLDER". To the Western "nudists'...their beaches..are for swimming..lazing in the sun..enjoying a game of volleyball etc etc...to the "visitors" (especially from Punjab..Pakistan..Iran etc..) the deep Blue...SEA, the Blazing..SUN, the white sanded Beach...the Beautiful Clouds in the blue sky...etc...etc are just INVISIBLE...completley NON-EXISTENT...ALL their eyes can "SEE are...you know what !! they just cant have enough of all those naked bodies...while the westerners just IGNORE the naked bodies !!
Heres a funny anecdote...
In the early 1970s, the great SANT FATEH SINGH President Shromani Akali Dal and his co president SANT Channan Singh Presidfent SGPC Amritsar and Akal takhat jathedar were scheduled to land at Kuala Lumpur Airport. There was a huge crowd of local SIKHS waiting eagerly at the Arrival gates for the HOLY TRINITY to appear...when suddenly everyone saw a White Couple walking out..and begin to kiss as they walked along...beleive me when I say that almost the entire Sikh Sangat's EYES left the arrival gate and began to FOLLOW the Gora couple...until they disappeared in the distance..people were still trying to stand taller to "see"...and not many noticed that the SANTS had walked UP...and were there in front of us...unnoticed !! Hurriedly the garlands were taken out..and jaikaras "released" !!.

I always say..its all in the way we are brought up. MY place has so amny computers..all connected 24/7 to the Internet...and I have so many students..young and old..my family too...4 youngsters...INITIALLY i used to be "scared" of all the PORN so easily avilable on the Net...i used to have sleepless nights..wonderign IF..any studnet..or my children..were doing what they shoudlnt have...shoudl i have a "man to man talk..bees and birds..etc etc... I would leave and come back suddenly..( then I installed CCTVs too.hidden in the ceiling and unknown to anyone but myself.)..and you know what..To date NOT a SINGLE isntance of any student/family memeber etc caught watching/visiting porn sites..and its not that THEY DONT KNOW HOW ?? so many times windows pop up all the time..on various sites..ads appear..so they do know..BUT NOT INTERESTED !! They would rather spend the time reading Gurbani sites, watching kirtan etc..searching vikipeadia..google earth Maps etc etc.. Once in a while the curiosity gets the better of them..they go..look around..and then LEAVE and then AVOID those sites...which is perfectly fine with ME. I sold off the cctvs...why waste electricity. MY DAD usedto say..EK MIAAN WICH DO TALWARAN NAHIN SMAA SAKDEEAN..meaning ONE SCABBARD cannot take TWO SWORDS...GURBANI..the entire 1429 angs says the same thing..OUR MANN CANNOT have place for TWO - its EITHER the CREATOR..or the "shaitaan".its either LOVE..or Hate...good ..or bad...SO IF we as parents FILL up with the GOOD..the BAD has no chance in hell !!..and as is said in Gurbani..BURREH KAAM KO UTTH KHLOYAH..we are ever ready for BAD...and its easy to be BAD...the FAULT lies with the ONES who should have FILLED US WITH GOOD..my job as TEACHER is to fill up with GOOD any shorfall that the parents failed to do....so far so GOOD.
Its REALITY..we are LIVING IN THE MUD....we are in the COAL CELLAR...its difficult to keep our CHOLA WHITE..but we have to...no other alternative...GURBANI is like that commercial thing they spray on Cloth to make them Stain resistant....a constant spray of GURBANI in our daily lives keeps us STAIN FREE. !!! FOR EVER !!

2. AD Khalsa Ji..I totally respect your sentiments and know where you come from...I have so many such friends in the local sangat..sewadaars and elderly sewadaars who feel the pain when they see the youngsters behave boorishly, no manners, run around..like wild beasts..and some parents too behaving the same way....we CAN and MUST inform all...but we have to keep within our limits too...one cna take a horse to water but cannot amke it drink...it serves us no purpsoe IF the "horse" KICKS US while we try and force it to DRINK !! we may get injured..seriously...so its best to be JUDICIOUS...give advice..where sought..keep quiet..where situation is adverse.....a "Doctor" recently got up and slapped the sewadaar..simply because the sewadar 'advised" the doc's young son that..Bacha jitnee daal khanne hoveh utnee hee pavaweah...jooth chhaddnee mannah hai... the Doctor said..EH mera son hai..mein 1000 Chanda dinda haan..jeh eh langgar dee saree daaal vee dollhh deveh..tera kee dhiddh dukhda hai..I give Subscripton of 1000 dollars yearly..even IF my son were to THROW away the entire daal of the langgar why your stomach pain ??..SO in such cases..DISCRETION IS ADVISED.

I agree with you Mai ji... and Gyani Ji....I sometimes feel reluctant to say somebody to cover his/her head, but then second moment my mind and heart says ...its our Guru's sewa..its our duty..and I politely and humbly tell them...because I feel hurted if by my words somebody feel offended... once it happened...and I realized that a lady got offended...I reited one Jap Ji Sahib for that... its like tussle between mind and heart...

I am not shocked. We are human and all have feet of clay as I said before. Some people do these things on a lark without much thinking, that is they don't realize the seriousness of their actions at the time or put themselves in the others sandals or in this case bare feet.

I would be interested in the age of these offenders. I have seen just about everything so I don't think the videos could show me something I haven't seen before.

Let me be perfectly frank about porn. I have seen it many times and am of the opinion that if I am not apart of such an act why see it. I do not mean myself being films in anyway to be clear.

What is it that men are more attracted to porn than women???, generally speaking.
