LONDON (August 9, 2011)–There have been reports of continued riots, including attacks on Sikhs and Gurdwaras. Our correspondents in London are keeping a close eye on recent activities in several cities where rioters have attacked Gurdwaras, along with some mosques and temples. According to recently intercepted information, attackers are aiming at the Broadway area of Southall, which means the Park Ave. Gurdwara may come under attack from the hooligans.

The following message is being spread to instigate attacks in Southall: “All my popeye Acton Northolt Greenford Ruislip Hayes West Drayton Slough Southall Gurnell Cowgate Marnham Hammresmith Harlseden and Wembly niggas that linked up today Roll thru tomoro at 6pm sharp in Southall broadway hit up the jewellers!”

Urgent benti to sangat: Please advise all your female relatives and friends NOT to venture out wearing gold jewelry. There have been several cases in the Midlands where opportunist hooligans have attempted to capitalize on rocketing gold prices by robbing Punjabi ladies of their necklaces and bangles.

.......
LONDON (August 9, 2011)–Recent riots that started in Tottenham are now spreading around the UK with reports of Gurdwaras being attacked in London. Groups of Sikhs have started gathering around the East London and Ilford Gurdwaras to provide protection as there have been elements of mob disorder in East Ham, Ilford and Romford. There are confirmed reports of Gurdwara Singh Sabha Barking being attacked earlier today by bricks and other materials. The Police intervened straight away in the incident with the mob quickly moved on by the Police. There are now groups of Singhs gathering around the following Gurudwaras to provide security: Gurdwara Dasmesh Darbar Manor Park, Gurdwara Karamsar Ilford, Gurdwara Singh Sabha Barking, Gurdwara Singh Sabha Seven Kings and Mata Sahib Kaur Academy Newbury Park as well as other Gurdwaras in affected areas. Sikh24 has also intercepted tweets from sangat in Birmingham asking them to come and protect Dashmesh Sikh Temple in the Lozells area.

People simply should not have to live with this sort of apprehension. Is it not ironic that most of the time we are ranting against organized, state sponsored efforts to peck away at our right to worship. And here we have a sangat, not the only one, overwrought by efforts of random mobs of capricious teenagers threatening their places of worship. Reason? Well.. apparently just to muck things up for anyone who has a little more.

Quote "Reasonable Force

Does the law protect me? What is 'reasonable force'?
Anyone can use reasonable force to protect themselves or others, or to carry out an arrest or to prevent crime. You are not expected to make fine judgements over the level of force you use in the heat of the moment. So long as you only do what you honestly and instinctively believe is necessary in the heat of the moment that would be the strongest evidence of you acting lawfully and in self-defence. This is still the case if you use something to hand as a weapon.
As a general rule, the more extreme the circumstances and the fear felt, the more force you can lawfully use in self-defence."
