Talwandi Sabo (April 14, 2010): In a conference held here at Talwandi Sabo, the Shiromani Akali Dal (Panch Pardhani) resolved to continue with their struggle to secure Sikh Sovereignty and implement edicts of Sri Akal Takhat regarding closure of deras and curb their vicious activates.

Representatives of various other Sikh organizations like Dal Khalsa, Khalsa Action Committee, Akal Federation, Ek Noor Khalsa Fauj, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satikar Sabha and Sikh Students Federation also attended this conference, held near Takht Damdama Sahib.

“Since the Vaisakhi of 1699 Sikhs are being recognized as a unique nation in the world, therefore Sikhs do deserve the right of self determination that is being denied by the Indian State.” said Bhai Harpal Singh Cheema while addressing the gathering. He alleged that Punjab, being historical land of Sikhs, is continuously discriminated against by the Union of India.

Panch Pardhani declared that India is a multi-national peninsula and this reality must be admitted by the Indian state. “The State must restructure itself according to its multi-national character; which is the only logical solution to the struggles of various struggling nations of India, including the Sikhs, Kashmiris and Nagas.” said Bhai Daya Singh Kakkar, General Secretary of the Organizations.

Problems of Farmers, loot of river waters of Punjab, curse of Drug addiction, controversial activities and decisions of current administrators of SGPC and upcoming SGPC elections were other issues that attacked attention of speakers during the conference.
