Sikh Coalition Organizing 9/11 Hearings in New York City

Fremont: As the 10-year anniversary of September 11th approaches, the Sikh coalition is organizing a Community hearing on 20 August. This hearing will be on the discriminatory impact of 9/11 on Muslims, Arabs, South Asians, and Sikhs in New York City.

The event that commences at 1.00 Pm will witness over 25 victims, advocates and government officials from the US Justice Department, US Department of Homeland Security, New York City Council, New York City Commission on Human Rights, Center for Constitutional Rights, Sikh Coalition, National Network for Arab American Communities, and the Council on American Islamic Relations.

The hearing will be held at the Asian American/Asian Research Institute, 25 West 43rd Street, 19th Floor, New York.

Some of the eminent speakers include Eric Treene Special Counsel, Civil Rights Division, United States Department of Justice; Council Member Daniel Dromm, Chair, New York City Council Immigration Committee; Ehsan Zaffar,Office of Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, Department of Homeland Security; Barry Jamison, Director of Manhattan Community Service Center, New York City Commission on Human Rights; Professor Smita Narula, Center for Human Rights and Global Justice, New York University Law School; Pardiss Kebriaei, Staff Attorney, Center for Constitutional Rights; Amardeep Singh, Program Director, Sikh Coalition; Linda Sarsour, Advocacy and Civic Engagement Coordinator, National Network for Arab American Communities; Udai Tambar, Executive Director, South Asian Youth Action; The Reverend Chloe Breyer, Interfaith Cen
