Sheikh Farid Ji Bani/ਸੇਖ ਫਰੀਦ ਜੀਉ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ – No. 3 In Series

ੴ / Ik▫oaʼnkār
Dec 21, 2010
Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯgur parsāḏ.
With blessing of one eternal creator esteemed teacher.

Rāg sūhī baṇī Sekẖ Farīḏ jī kī.
Raag Soohi Sheikh Farid ji composition

Ŧap ṯap luhi luhi hāth marora▫o. Bāval ho▫ī so saho lora▫o.
Frustrated and frustrated, writhing and writhing I wring my hands. Become insane and so searching for spouse (creator).

Ŧai sėh man mėh kī▫ā ros. Mujẖ avgan sah nāhī ḏos. ||1||
Such spouse protested in mind. I am virtue less, no blame to spouse (creator).

Ŧai sāhib kī mai sār na jānī. Joban kẖo▫e pācẖẖai pacẖẖuṯānī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
So master I never appreciated. Youth lost, regretting afterwards.

Kālī ko▫il ṯū kiṯ gun kālī. Apne parīṯam ke ha▫o birhai jālī.
Black bird, what reason for your blackness. Separation of my beloved so burnt me.

Pirėh bihūn kaṯėh sukẖ pā▫e. Jā ho▫e kirpāl ṯā parabẖū milā▫e. ||2||
How can one find comfort without beloved. When so blessing, then creator so encountered.

viḏẖaṇ kẖūhī munḏẖ ikelī. Nā ko sāthī nā ko belī.
Scary well, she is alone. No companion, no friend.

Kar kirpā parabẖ sāḏẖsang melī. Jā fir ḏekẖā ṯā merā alhu belī. ||3||
Through blessing, creator joined me with company of pious. When re- looked, creator was my friend.

vāt hamārī kẖarī udīṇī. Kẖanni▫ahu ṯikẖī bahuṯ pi▫īṇī.
Our path ever so disquieting. Sharper than a saber, very thin.

Us ūpar hai mārag merā. Sekẖ Farīḏā panth samĥār saverā. ||4||1||
My path is on such. Sheikh Farid so plan for such, as early in the morning.

ESSENCE: Baba Farid ji flag the loss of time in seeking understanding. Frustrated, writhing, searching and then realizing by self that the fault is not with the creator master.

Did not appreciate in time and now regret that the peak of life is behind.

Baba Farid ji then visualize a blackbird and ask why are you black then self answer that it is the fire of separation that so burnt me. One cannot find comfort without the loved one (creator) and only when such so blesses. Another scene of a deserted well and all alone. With blessing came company of the pious and suddenly see the creator as a friend.

Farid ji liken the search for the creator as a disquieting very narrow path. Such is the path to traverse so plan ever so early.
Please note all errors are mine and I stand corrected.

Sat Sri Akal.

I especially love the AUDIOS ji...thanks so much for taking the time to search the appropriate video and loading them here...its a pleasure to listen in the backkground while reading the post..helps immensely....
As a part Time Hobby....I am a Public Paathee (Akhand paaths for sangat Gurpurabs)....and i always get the Prime Time Raols because i become immersed in the Gurbani and forget everything....except the Gurbani before me...and was thus most surprised whne i arrived late for a Anand karaj...from below vai the loudspeakers i felt as if there were 2 Jathas doing the better but seemed to be missing the waja/jorree....and thne when i entered the darbaar sahib i saw the Reader pathee SINGING the Laavan so super melodiously that he beat the Ragi jatha hands down..made my day....becasue i always beleive the READING should be equally MELODIOUS and with devotion so the sangat can get the meanings and enjoy the Paath....instead of the super speed mumblers who pass off as akhand pathees now a days....just some private musings...apologies in advance....
