SGPC gen secy for appointment of 600 'dharam parcharks'
Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee general secretary Sukhdev Singh Bhaur on Monday suggested that the committee should appoint 600 'dharam parcharks' (preachers) across the state. Addressing a Gurmat Camp of teaching staff of religious institutions organised by Dharam Parchar
Committee of the SGPC, Bhaur admitted that the Sikh religion was not being preached properly as the 'dharam parcharks' of the SGPC were not reaching out to people thus creating a religious void.
Bhaur said there are around 12,000 villages in the state and the SGPC should appoint at least 600 'parcharks'. Each 'parchark' will cover 20 villages in a month and will visit the village assigned to him 12 times a year.
He said the work of these 'parcharks' should be to get all feedback about Sikhs living in these villages, their problems and how the SGPC can solve these. SGPC executive member Karnail Singh Panjoli also spoke on the occasion.
