Guru piayario jio,
I concur with aad0002 jis observation.
I would compare the SS to the 1000 Arabian Nights Tales..most of the Sau Sakhis are just too tall to be true.. several types available in amrtisar bookstores the last time i visited..

Now thou art about to go,
But when wilt thou return?
Then the Guru thus answered:

Every faith shall become of the Khalsa;
No other religion will remain.
'Vaheguru' shall everywhere be repeated,

Which Nanak received from the Lord.
Worthless, I fall before God;
Nanak, the slave, cannot comprehend the ways of the Lord.
Thus replied Nanak to Kaarun's question.

The Sau Sakhi (100 stories) is a book of predictions associated with Sikhism. It professes to be a conversation between Sahib Singh and Gurbakhsh Singh on the sayings of the tenth Guru. M.A MaCauliffe in his The Sikh Religion Vol V, states "It is held is great esteem by the Kukas - followers of Baba Ram Singh and is relied on by them as the main authority for their heresy." Bhai Santokh Singh in his writings sometimes gives Bhai Gurbakhsh Singh's communications to Sahib Singh as the basis of his history of the Gurus from the time of Guru Angad Dev Ji, but he makes no mention of the Sau Sakhi. Many dispute the authenticity of these compositions, but much is made of the couplets that makeup these stories by these sects. Many speculate that the second coming of Guru Gobind Singh Ji is a vindication of this Baba or that , if anything the second coming of Guru Gobind Singh Ji will be in the form of Kalki Avtar.

One prophecy involves Guru Nanak Dev Ji foretelling the coming of the 11th Guru, another tells of Guru Gobind Singh Ji foretelling the coming of Baba Balak, another says that in the book Sau Sakhi it mentions the word ‘Ram’ so it must obviously mean Baba Ram Singh, another says that Guru Angad Dev Ji foretold the arrival of Baba Balak.
Had the Guru’s nothing better to do then tell stories of the future, and how curious that they all involve " Baba Balak"....and NONE about GURU AMARDASS..GURU RAMDASS..GURU ARJUN ji and his shaheedee..Guru hargobind Ji and his wars...Guru Har rai..Guru Harkishan Ji and his early death....Guru Teg bahadur Ji and His martyrdom at Delhi...
Let me make a prediction, there will be a lot more prophecies that will materialise, all concerning Baba Balak....and the rest is "his STORY....

All such prophecies etc are popular with nihangs/sanatanists/brahminically inclined sants and deras..all looking to glorify the DEHDHAREE "GURU"....but .to the serious academically students of sikh history....these have not much value.

There are two text refered to as Sau Sakhi which means hundred testimonies. It not that only Namdharis follow them.

1st is Mangal Prakash by Bhai Ram Kaur, who later became Gurbax Singh Ji. It has written in it which proves that even before Tenth Master going to Hajur Sahib, Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, was respected as living Guru of Sikhs. Kavi Santokh Singh in Guru Pratap Suraj Granth Does writes that his account about the life of Tenth Master is as told by Baba Ram Kaur.

Sau Sakhi has only a few Sakhis which talk of future, more Sakhis there talk about Sikh Laws and event in the life of Tenth Master.

Language is full of symbolism, and just by taking literal meaning is often not OK. Like at one place it is written that Sikh should not study Arabic and Persian ,but without reading next line ie Sikh will not serve Turk, the proper context is not understood.(Term Muslim is used with respect while term Turk,which is a race of invaders, also called turani is not respected as in Islam racialism is not allowed).

The second Sau Sakhi is Bijai Mukt Sakhi Dasavi. This part of Panj Sau Sakhi, which is said to be work of Tenth Master himself(we have lord Jesus as per new testament also making point clear with stories). Note worthy story in here is Tenth Master respecting the usage of beef by scavenger community.

Akal Bless.
