Pilgrims fed 'rotten' prasad laddoos at Shirdi's Sai Baba temple

Shirdi :
On August 25, devotees complained that the prasad laddoos made at the at the famed Sai Baba temple smelled foul and tasted bitter.

They had questioned the quality of ghee (clarified butter) used for making the prasad, official sources said today.

This led to over 6,000 kgs of rotten 'laddoos' being disposed of by a team of the Food and Drug Administration, but only after devotees complained about their quality.

Following the complaints, committee members of the temple trust, including Ahmednagar-based district judge Jayant Kulkarni and Collector Sanjeev Kumar also found that the laddoos tasted foul and hinted at action against the ghee manufacturer and supplier.

Late last night, FDA officials disposed of a stock of 6,796 kg laddoos worth Rs 8.15 lakh in a pit near the Sai Baba trust, sources said.

The FDA team collected samples of ghee used for preparing prasad at the Shirdi Sai Baba shrine, which would be sent for testing, the sources said.

Why don't they just have dry prasad that doesn't go off. I guess that would drive the so called devotees away :sippingcoffeemunda:

because the company that supplied the Ghee, ' Stinky Ghee Ltd' probably has a relative on the committee that makes the decisions

Our Sikh Gurdwara Commitees should learn too from this incident. When purchases are made for Desi Ghee for the Krrah Parsad in bulk and lot of underhand dealings are made, these thing could happen at our Gurdwaras too.

The only remedy seems to be of pre-tasting or quality checks by a technician or Doctor but then our religious sentiments will come in the way as you cant pre test neither Krrah prasad nor lunger.

So, how to save us from such a situation ???????

BUT as always IF Uncle Fatso is Pardhaan..then Cousin Stinky will be chief supplier.period....Such situation has been reported..The DAAL fed in the Langgar at Takhat damdama Sahib in 2010/2011 was so FULL of Susree that it was served in dark/semi dark situations..until the media got wind of it..so YES we SIKHS have to eb aware as well..
