Atheism Perils Of Blind Faith

Last week, a family of eight committed mass suicide in a small town near Jaipur, in Rajasthan.
The family consisted of an aged woman, her two sons,one daughter in law and her grand-children,the youngest being about 10 yrs.
The tragedy was video graphed by the head of the family,who,by the way, was a photographer by professional. In this video we see them laughing and joking among themselves, even as they know that they are all going to commit suicide very soon.
The head of the family asks each one of them why they want to die. They, each in his or her own way, answers that their life has no meaning unless they meet Shiv and Parvati in flesh.
So they perform havan in their sitting room. challenge Shiv and Parvati to appear before them or they will go to meet them in heaven.
So when the puja is over, on the count of three, all of them happily consumed cynide wrapped in khoa peddas, and gulp it down with water from a single bottle,which they all shared.
Five are dead and the others are in I.C.U.
WAS THIS MASS HALLUCINATION, OR MASS HYPNOTISM, OR THEIR ASTHA AS IS SO OFTEN PROPAGATED BY THE SO CALLED BELIEVERS?????:angryyoungsingh:

Jasbirkaleka veer what a sad state of affairs. So sad to read about such an incident.

Do you believe the real issue is those who brainwash the gullible or the gullible themselves? Specially when younger children are involved in such crass manipulations from very young age upwards. Probably 100's of millions of vulnerable so exploited even though they may not all commit suicide. Certainly their minds don't remain of their own and they forever are lost and exploited during their whole lives.

Blind faiths make people blind. They may have full sight but their insight is blind, thanks to these kinds of dogmatic meaningless beliefs.

Such grandiose plans of rendezvous with the deity are rarely shared outside the trusted circle. Or maybe someone could have put sense into them.
