It is learnt that the Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh has called a meeting of the Five Jathedars on January 22, 2014 to discuss the standoff between Patna Sahib Jathedar Giani Iqbal Singh and the management committee.

It may be recalled that a violent clash took place between two opponent factions on January 07 at Takht Patna Sahib during the Parkash Gurpurb Samagams.

As per information Giani Partap Singh was appointed as additional Jathedar of Takht Sri Harmandar Sahib, Patna Sahib by the management committee of the Takht Sahib; but when the declaration in this regard was made on January 07; the move was opposed by Giani Iqbal Singh. This reportedly led to a clash between the two sides.

Giani Iqbal Singh and few others had sustained injurries in this clash, following which a police case was also registered on the complaint of Giani Iqbal Singh. In wake of these developments the management committee of Takht Patna Sahib had suspended Giani Iqbal Singh.

The Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) had sent a team to Patna Sahib after this clash. The SGPC team had brought both sides to a compromise, as a result Gaini Iqbal Singh was restored as Jathedar of Takht Patna Sahib.

It is learnt that Giani Iqbal Singh had agreed to accept appointment of Giani Partap Singh as additional Jathedar, but he later refused to accept this appointment, which has resulted in resurgance of stand-off between the two sides.

As per information Giani Gurbachan Singh has asked Giani Iqbal Singh and Giani Partap Singh to explain their cases during the January 22 meeting.
