NEW DELHI: Scores of activists protested against the CBI on Sunday for dropping a case against senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Jagdish Tytler in connection with the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

The activists under the banner of All India Sikh Conference (AISC) staged a protest here and were prevented by police as they were marching towards the Prime Minister's house.

"The Supreme Court should take suo motu cognisance of the case and ask the CBI to reopen the anti-Sikh riot cases and give justice to 5000 Sikh families," president of AISC Gurcharan Singh Babbar said.

Earlier, the CBI on September 29 said it was unable to find witnesses to support its charges against Tytler.
