Granthi arrested for disrespect of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

The Garhshankar police has arrested Joginder Singh, a resident of Soond village (Nawanshahar), working as sewadar granthi at Gurdwara Ravi Dass of Badesron village on Sunday under Section 295 of the IPC for allegedly removing some Ang of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
According to police sources, Harmesh Lal asked for the Bir of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji for solemnising the marriage of his daughter on Sunday. When Gian Singh, a granthi of Ladian village was reciting Guru Ji, he found some Ang missing. He reported the matter to Bhola Ram, president of Gurdwara Ravi Dass. Bhola Ram inquired from Joginder Singh, about the missing Ang.
At first, Joginder Singh denied his involvement, but later confessed to having torn the Ang. Allegedly Joginder (employed for three months) believed he was to be called to conduct the ceremony but was not and so he tore the Lavaan Prayers out to make it difficult for the other Granthi to conduct the wedding
