Guru Nanak Dev Ji: How To Lose Attachments, Salvage, Be Purified And Remove Darkness? 5

ੴ / Ik▫oaʼnkār
Dec 21, 2010
Perhaps a very basic quest for many of us. It may or may not be a goal in itself but does substantially impact how we live our lives.

Let us review the following,

Sidhas/Yogis ask:
Ki▫o kar bāḏẖā sarpan kẖāḏẖā. Ki▫o kar kẖo▫i▫ā ki▫o kar lāḏẖā.
How so tied up and stung by the she snake worldly attachments? How one causes to lose?; How one makes avail?

Ki▫o kar nirmal ki▫o kar anḏẖi▫ārā. Ih ṯaṯ bīcẖārai so gurū hamārā. ||14||
How one causes to be purified?; How one eliminates darkness? One knowing this gist in contemplation, such is our esteemed teacher.
Guru Ji’s answers:
Ḏurmaṯ bāḏẖā sarpan kẖāḏẖā. Manmukẖ kẖo▫i▫ā gurmukẖ lāḏẖā.
Bad understanding ties and eats like a snake; Self centric so loses; One of creator’s leaning gains.

Saṯgur milai anḏẖerā jā▫e. Nānak ha▫umai met samā▫e. ||15||
In meeting the true creator, the darkness leaves. Nanak eliminating egotism one immerses.

Sunn niranṯar ḏījai banḏẖ. Udai na hansā paṛai na kanḏẖ.
If one ties the soul to the one essence of the creator. The mind does not fly away and body does not disintegrate.

Sahj gufā gẖar jāṇai sācẖā. Nānak sācẖe bẖāvai sācẖā. ||16||
Tranquil cave one understands to be the true abode. Nanak the true one gets to be so liked by the true creator.
Guru ji greatly emphasize the focused and connectivity with the creator and creation as a means to achieve these objectives and live accordingly. This results in darkness diminishing, ego subsiding, mind in tranquility devoid of disturbances. A bond of strength develops through understanding of the creator and creation.
