Much of Gurbani deals with GURMATT by giving "examples" from "established" views....YUGS is one of those views.
If you read Sahib Sri Guur nanak Sahib jis shabd in Raag Ramklai Ashtpadian.."Soee chand charreh se tareh..soee duniar tapat reheah..sa dhartee sa pavan jhulareh..YUG JEEA kheleh thaav keseah.?? You will get GURU Jis answer as to whether there are YUGS or NOT. ( If you dont have the time to read further or are dying standing due to curiosity to know the answer...ITS NO. There are no such thing as Yugs.

After passing thru Pushkar and Agra Guur nank Ji and Mardana arrived at MATHRA Bindrabna..the Birthplace of Krishan Ji. Guru Ji happened to arrive on Krishan Jis Birthday This famous Mandir of Kriha was demolished by Aurengzeb in 1169 and turned into a MASJID. This was also the time for HOLI ( and anyone who has seen a bollywood film about HOLI will know what i am going to say next...) Bhai mardana Ji saw the DEBAUCHERY of the so called celebrations of Holi etc going on and asked Guru Ji..why are the people of Mathura so debauched? This hsouldnt be at such an important TEERATH - place of pilgrimage and hence so HOLY !! Before Guru Ji could answer some PANDITS and Brahmins standing nearby butted in....OH..its GHOR KALYUG..Times are SO BAD..evil rules this Age..blah blah blah blah. ( Almost word for word what we hear TODAY..whenever thee is news about a Father raping his child daughter..or Sant baba raping teenage girls in his dera..or a mother murdering her children..etc etc..GHOR KALYUG HAI JI..Zamana bahut BAD hai...blah blah blah...!!!!

What could be more DEVIOUS..Debauchery in the name of RELIGION..but when someone questions this....blame it on "KALYUG" !!!

What is GURU NANAK JIs ANSWER...??? ALL this kalyug thing is pure BULL. !!! ha ha ha.

Guru Ji says..its the SAME MOON..the SAME SUN..the SAME STARS..the SAME Earth..the SAME WIND..the SAME WATER....from the Beginning of TIME..and TODAY as well as in 1523 when Guru nanak ji wrote this GURBANI. So whats DIFFERENT ?? Its the MEN !! A "good man" in SATYUG will NOT rape his daughter....the SAME GOOD MAN in KALYUG also wont rape his daughter. A BAD MAN will definitley RAPE hsi daughter..in Sat-yug, Dwapur Yug.. Treta Yug...Kalyug..and any other YUG !!!! Thanks for the web page. There is plenty to ponder, wrap the mind around, as an intellectual puzzle. The details of thought. But do you also get the sense that if we put the information on the web page together with the words of Gyani ji and Surinder ji, that in the end, submerging our focus on yugas is pointless anyway? Possibly the idea of 4 yugas or 36 yugas is historically important but not fundamental to our connection with Satgur? Are we always in darkness until we are no longer in darkness at the will of the Divine? What are your thoughts?

This doesn't blow my mind as speaking against yugs. It says very clearly the age in which we dwell affects living beings but not the place. So obviously beings are affected by the age. Further, Gurbani goes on to say...

Why is Gurbani clearly talking about signs that we are in an evil age...if there is no such thing as an evil age? Moreover, Gurbani does not contradict itself. Why is Gurbani talking about Yugs in other shabads as well?

Indeed, go to the source... but how come Gurbani continually is talking about Yugs? And if this were not clear enough, even the vaaran of Bhai Gurdas is talking about Yugs. So one would have to conclude from the preponderance of the evidence...that there must be Yugs!

He washed His feet, eulogised God and got his Disciples drink the ambrosia of his feet.

I am pleased to note that you have backtracked on Gyani ji's comments to find the real truth. We should never take anyones comments on face value. It is usually these academic individuals that tend to twist Bani. This is indeed the effect of Kalyug. The righteousness has indeed flown away.

I commend Surinder Kaur's efforts in trying to educate people. She is indeed doing a great service. But how many take her advice. Mostly people come here to let off their steam. The also go from Forum to Form and collect information like a magpie. Not having the sense or understanding of what is Right and Wrong. They use Gurus' Bani to promote their own Names.

This is not "Gyaani - ism", this is "Agyaani-ism". This shows the strength of Kalyug and how it can manipulate any individual. I do not blame Gyaani ji, he is only being used as an instuments by Kalyug. The further one moves away from Naam Simran, the more devestating the effects will be.

As you have already done, backtrack because anyone can be an agent. And that can include myself too.

This is a very interesting thread.

My view is that a Sikh should not worry about such things and concentrate on the now. Gurbani is rich with examples on this.

I also believe that if you are looking to define an "end of Kaal Yug" you may not find one - I think it is mentioned somewhere that no one but Akal knows the Time and that Kartar has created creation many times over.

I am no authority on Sikhi or Gurbani - perhaps others can elaborate on my view from Shri Guru Ji.
