Paris: A move by a French fast-food chain to offer halal menues at a handful of restaurants has left some politicians fuming, in the latest row over France's increasingly visible Muslim minority.

The Quick chain has taken pork off its menu in eateries in Roubaix, northern France, as well as in M{censored}ille and in the Paris suburb of Argenteuil to try to tap into the growing market of Muslim customers.

But politicians from the left and right have complained that the switch to no-bacon hamburgers, launched three months ago in November, is depriving non-Muslims of their right to the standard menu.

They argue that non-Muslims now have to trek to the suburbs to get a bacon burger as Quick is the only fast-food place in the city centre.

Roubaix town leaders on Thursday filed a complaint for discrimination, their lawyer Frank Berton said. He said Quick was effectively making the supplying of its products conditional on religious affiliation.

"I'm not bothered by the fact that there is a halal menu," said Roubaix's Mayor Rene Vandierendonck. "But this is going too far because it is the only menu on offer and it has become discrimination."

French far-right politician Marine Le Pen suggested the Halal menus were providing a financial boost to Muslim organisations that certify meat as having been slaughtered in accordance with Islamic practices.

Le Pen condemned the menu switch as "unacceptable" and denounced a form of "Islamisation".

In cities and towns across France, Quick's red-and-white signs are as familiar a sight as McDonald's golden arches, offering the usual array of hamburgers, French fries and soft drinks.

But in eight of Quick's 350 restaurants the "Strong Bacon" double cheese hamburger is not on offer, replaced by a halal version with smoked turkey.

One customer was quoted in Le Parisien daily as saying that "it's just not the same".

The government has frowned on Quick's decision, suggesting that it was a form of "communautarisme", a pejorative term suggesting that a group is exhibiting a ghetto attitude.

Home to Europe's biggest Muslim minority estimated at between five and six million, France has been caught up in a series of controversies that have highlighted its unease with Islam in a strictly secular society.

President Nicolas Sarkozy's government is drafting legislation to ban the wearing of the full Islamic veil and sponsoring a debate on national identity that has exposed fears about immigration.

Responding to the hubbub over the halal hamburgers, the head of France's Muslim Council called on Thursday for reason to prevail and announced that he planned to meet with Quick's owners.

France seems to be against any kind of free market. The only solution France has left with is to become a dictartorship country where it can write all the new rules and force people what to wear, what to eat and how to behave. It would be the Sharia law of the french.

This is an interesting metamorphosis. While accusing the Muslims living in the 14th century, the french themselves are trying to make the same rules of the time.

The main reason for this islamo fobia and anti islam policies is this

Islam in France: The French Way of Life Is in Danger :: Middle East Quarterly

The Muslim presence is much greater in key areas than the overall figures would suggest. Many cities or neighborhoods in France have turned into all-Muslim territories.

The birthrate of Muslims being three to four times higher than that of non-Muslims, the proportion of children, teenagers, and young adults in urban France is not 5-11 percent but a very impressive 33 percent or so.

Yes and No.

The xenophobia of the French is legendary. Muslims are not the cause but the symptom of fears the run much deeper than today's or yesterday's fears for preserving the cultural purity of France.

I am not sure if it is still true today, however, there was a time in the not too distant past when a person could not own real estate in France if they were not "french" as in born in France or of parents born in France. I am not talking about commercial/business real estate only. Citizenship was almost impossible to get. If a Frenchman in his 40's or 50's immigrated to the US, and became a US citizen (which meant giving it up French citizenship) -- he still was required to serve in the French military. I know a family from Normandy -- a large family -- all US citizens -- and in the 1970's every man of my fathers age and my age in that family could not return to France not even for a weekend. If they did they would be arrested for avoiding military service. We are really looking a mind-sets as well as fear of being swamped by Muslims.

So the next target of the new French Revolution should be to control the birth rate of muslims... :shy: Consider this, by the time Sikhs have reached barely 2 Crores or 20 millions in India, Muslims have around the same time exploded to a staggering 30 Crores or 300 Millions in India alone. Kanwardeep ji, that comes easily more than 10 times the normal birth rate.

No offense but birth control should be the prime focus of any government trying to deal with Muslim infestation of their state.

Is there any Hadith on castration that can be inserted in the Quran as many things have been since its inception?
Population explosion would make the bunny world jealous. Their population has to be controlled all over the world.
