According to Bhai gurdas Guru Nanak had a debate with the sidhs in the last year of his life. Karminder Singh states that both sidh gosht and Japji were both completed within the last year of his life since puree 28 & 29 of Japji Sahib are a summary of sidh gosht
That question is not really relevant here because Bhai gurdas is narrating a sakhi from guru Nanak life. Since he was a contemporary of 5 gurus he could have learned this from the guru himself.
Nice essay. But I have a question about Bhai gurdas ji's vaar under vaar 1 pauri 36. My punjabi isn't good so I was wondering if it's an accurate translation.

went to punjab two years ago and stood in a long line for an ardas for my brother with learning disabilities. Basically the same standardised ardas but with a different person's name and problem to fill in the blank.

According to Bhai Gurdas Ji in Vaaran 1 Pauri 48 , sikhs had asked Guru Hargobind how many gurus would come after him.

i want to learn to read the guru granth sahib. Which language do you think i should start with. Guru Nanak and Guru Arjun both wrote in Sanskrit and they were the biggest contributes so should i learn Sanskrit first?
I probably wouldn't have heard of Sikhism if i wasn't born into a sikh family. But it wasn't until i was 22 that i started caring and everything good i learn't was from my own research. Before that i was shifting between agnostic or athiest.
I've been looking at what historical sources say about which bani was read for amrit sanchar and found this comment by another user.
But i've found the following sources recently.

The salok after Mool Mantar and the salok at the end both belong to Raag Asa. Therefore we can assume that the whole of Japji should also be associated with the same raag
