Woman constable raped, murdered inside Rajasthan police station
Kota: In a shocking incident, two constables of Rajasthan Police on Thursday night raped and then murdered a woman police constable inside Chechat police station in Kota , Rajasthan.
Both the accused have been arrested and sent to judicial custody till October 4, while the remaining entire staff of the police station has been ordered to be sent to Police Lines by the chief minister. The Additional Director General of Police (Vigilance) will probe the rape and murder case.
Both the accused police constables, driver constable Desraj and constable Languri were drunk and they first misbehaved with the woman constable. When she threatened to complain to her seniors, the duo raped her inside the police station and then murdered her. The blood-stained body of the victim was found in the barracks the next morning.
The state government has ordered a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to be given to the next of kin of the victim. The post-mortem report conducted on the victim showed signs of rape, Lalit Maheshwari, SP, Kota(Rural) said.
Soon after the incident, villagers went on a rampage and stoned and attacked the police station on Friday. Special Task Force personnel were brought in to bring the situation under control. The SP admitted that the heinous act of the two has brought a bad name for the police. He said both of them will be dismissed from service after the probe is completed.
