re: What does the word "Ghar" mean in Guru Granth Sahib Ji?

The word "Ghur" in SGGS is related to the musical aspect of sabads in different raagas.
Those who are familiar with the music can understand better than common man.
In simple terms Ghur is the reference for the number of tals/beats to be used for singing any particular composition.Ghur is therefore a sort of direction to a musicial for tals.

Nijh Ghar in Gurbani means the"Final Merger" wiht HIM...the ultimate GOAL of us all...
Just as the final place of a Bride is her In-Laws house...OUR final place of abode is with OUR IN-Laws (Sahura Ghar) Akal Purakh as we are His Brides....
Ghar is also used rfor abode/dwelling..as in sunyeh ghar ka prauhnna..guest arriving at an empty house..
So depend on the CONTEXT...

The entire ambiguity surrounding the term Ghar in Sri Guru Granth Sahib has finally resolved.
Please refer to the website www.GharInGurbani.com.
Ghar is the way of reading and singing Gurbani.
Ghar 1, Ghar 2 etc. guide us how to read the sentences of the sabad on which Ghar has been mentioned.
Same Ghar is applicable to all sabads that follow such Sabad that has title of Ghar.

Ghar cannot be associated with Taal since Guru Sahib has allocated Ghar even to a Partaal !
A partaal means using more than one taal to sing a sabad. Thus, partaal, including all taals used therein, has been assigned a single Ghar, by Guru Sahib. Thus, Ghar cannot be associated with individual taals of such partaals. Hence, Ghar cannot be associated to any single taal.
When Guru Sahib allicated Ghar 3, Ghar 5, Ghar 6, Ghar 9 and Ghar 13 to different sabads to be sung as partaals, then consideration of Ghar to be a taal is rendered infructuous.
