I received this message today. Too late to vote but I want to share their message. <table align="center" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="900"><tbody><tr><td valign="top"><table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%"><tbody><tr><td style="padding: 5px;" valign="top"><table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%"><tbody><tr></tr><tr><td style="color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-size: 12px; font-weight: normal; padding-top: 10px;">
“When we used to hear the Sakhis of Guru Sahib that 40 Singhs took on a force of 10 lakh at Chamkaur Sahib, it seemed a little impossible but we never questioned. Today, not only we are fully convinced, but the world too is convinced of the might of the Khalsa” : Times of India, Mumbai Edition. 30th September, p.12
Amritsar, India- We fall short of words to describe what the Bir Khalsa Dal has achieved for promoting Gatka today.
If you have not been able to watch their progress through India’s Got Talent, it has been their special genius to showcase what Sikhs truly are with their amazing display of Gatka and their fantastic spirit. And they have done this before not just the whole nation, but the entire world through their appearances in the media. Even India’s Got Talent judge Sajid Khan had to declare that he now understood how one Sikh could take on many opponents and still emerge triumphant. This week, The Times of India, Mumbai congratulated the group as they go forth to compete in the final. UNITED SIKHS urges you to take the opportunity to help promote this extraordinary martial tradition, and if you are in India, please VOTE!

The following message was circulated by Young Sikh Leaders (YSL):
Gatka must be taught to every Sikh
In 1984 we lost so many family and friends in horrific circumstances. Seeing Bir Khalsa Dal, one cannot help but think: what if every Sikh at that time had known Gatka and had some basic Shastras at home? Every one of us could have defended ourselves, and many would have been deterred from perpetrating crimes against the Sikh community in the first place. It is not always necessary that we need a Sword (Kirpan) to fight as is evident in the interview with Bir Khalsa Dal’s Captain Sahib, Veer Kawaljeet Singh ji. You can watch the interview here: http://blip.tv/file/4170758
The group in competition
In fact, staying in the competition has been a kind of fight too, and one that we can all help to win. Despite the fact that they are clearly setting a great example for not only the youth but all Sikhs, it is sad to note that up to this point no one has come forward to support the group financially. Even for their two auditions in Delhi, they had to buy their own bana (traditional attire). To manage it one veer sold his motorcycle while others took loans. It is love for their Guru Sahib's vidya that inspires them to practice, and makes them willing to teach for free.
In addition to being great practitioners of Gatka, the Bir Khalsa Dal serve as role models in other ways: the group’s members are all educatedand some are in business too, though their youngest member, Manpreet Singh is only 8 years old. Anyone concerned that he is missing out on his studies should think again: his elders are ensuring that he works hard, and in fact he’s kept up an 80% grade average throughout these past 3 months despite the demands of performing..
The message
For Bir Khalsa Dal, their utmost desire is that Gurudwara Prabhandhaks come forward and facilitate every Sikh to learn Naam Simran and Gatka. They believe that every Gurdwara can and should offer Gatka to attract the youth.
We need only look at our Bir Khalsa Dal to know: today’s students can become examples for our community, representing the beauty of the Guru’s vidya to the world.
