Sikh High priest for Ram temple in Ayodhya

Sunday, 12 September 2010

AMRITSAR: Vishav Hindu Parishad (VHP) president Ashok Singhal here Saturday met Sikh high priest Jatehdar Akal Takht( highest Sikh temporal seat) Gyani Gurbachan Singh and urged him to perform religious prayer before Almighty for VHP which could construct Ram Temple at the disputed land.

Singhal during his meeting with Sikh High Priest also gave written request letter to perform religious prayer for the favorable court decision which was expected to be pronounced in the next few days on September 24. He said that such matters should be solved through the politicians who were sitting in the parliament, since it was tough for courts to take final decisions timely. Moreover such matters must be settled outside the courts, he quipped.

Talking to media Singhal said that VHP was always determined to construct Temple on the same place, even would remain determined. He said if the court decision came in the favour of VHP then Temple construction would be initiated on war footing level with great pomp and shows, in case court decision went against in such circumstances Temple construction would remain continue amidst agitations and protests.

Singhal showing respect to Sikh religion also paid obeisance and bowed his head in the sanctum sanctorum of Golden Temple and got Karah Parshad (Holy Communion) with folded hands while covering his head with scarf as per the Sikh tenets.

Talking to media Singhal said that Sikh community took birth form the Hindu religion as earlier ancestors of Sikhs and Sikh Gurus (Sikh masters) were basically from the Hindu religion.

However, later Jatehdar Akal Takht Gyani Gurbachan Singh categorically contradicted the statement of Singhal said that Sikhs were never part and parcel of Hindu religion, since Sikh religion was always a separate Community and would always remain separate as it had no links with any religion.
