As per Gurbani all our relationships are predestined

maath pithaa banithaa suth bandhap eisatt meeth ar bhaaee poorab janam kae milae sanjogee anthehi ko n sehaaee |1|

Mother, father, spouse, children, relatives, lovers, friends and siblings meet, having been associated in previous lives; but none of them will be your companion and support in the end. ||1||

Singhbj ji,

Guru Fateh.

Sorry to say that this is a very misleading way of presenting your argument rather than sharing the message of our beautiful Gurbani. The above is not the message of the Shabad that you have posted but a mere reference to the belief of the non-Sikhs then.

The center meaning is in the Rahao verse and here it is:

Ko▫ī jānai kavan īhā jag mīṯ.
Does anyone know, who is our friend in this world?

Jis ho▫e kirpāl so▫ī biḏẖ būjẖai ṯā kī nirmal rīṯ. ||1|| rahā▫o.
He alone understands this, whom the Lord blesses with His Mercy. Immaculate and unstained is his way of life. ||1||Pause||

Please share your understanding of the message of the Shabad above in full so we can learn from each other.

Thanks

jagath mai jhoothee dhaekhee preeth |

In this world, I have seen love to be false

apanae hee sukh sio sabh laagae kiaa dhaaraa kiaa meeth |1| rehaao |

Whether they are spouses or friends, all are concerned only with their own happiness. ||1||Pause||

preetham jaan laehu man maahee

O dear friend, know this in your mind.

apanae sukh sio hee jag faa(n)dhiou ko kaahoo ko naahee |1| rehaao |

The world is entangled in its own pleasures; no one is for anyone else. ||1||Pause||

I love this quote.

We go on forging false attachments hoping we'll find the one who'll grant us true everlasting bliss. But humans let each other down time and time again whether face to face or behind each other's backs.

Everyone is out for themselves and their own pleasure. Only one who's really there for us is Him. And we keep learning this over n over again, going from one person to the next until finally we surrender at His feet, with this understanding.

We walk our own path, and should let others be free to walk their own without attachments and expectations.
