The leading African-American civil rights organization, [ http://www.naacp.org/content/main/ ]NAACP [ http://www.naacp.org/content/main/ ], has a $35 million budget, thousands of branches, and 90 staff.

The Sikh Coalition, the highest-impact Sikh civil rights organization with the largest budget and staffing, has a paltry $940,000 budget, 3 offices, and 11 staff.



The Truth? *We fight our foes with slingshots, while our colleagues fight their foes with tanks.*

Yesterday, with your support, we reached $423,344 in our campaign to raise $500,000 by the end of the year. Thank you, donors!

But the truth is that in order to be effective, in order to protect the Sikh way of life we need the funding to be properly armed. We need more than slingshots. We need tanks. But SIKHS seem to be the ones in the news for WINNING....battles for the Jews and Muslims who have far greater resources and populations and been there long time...but never succeeded.....we get RESULTS.

I was thinking exactly what you are saying Gyani ji. Most of the money collected by the other groups goes to funding projects, and to the support of extensive administrative structures around the country. They also have a longer history of legislative support among moderates and liberals, and legislative wins and civil rights cases tried in the courts that gives them political clout as lobbyists - if that makes sense.

Sikh Coalition is getting more done on a short budget -- which of course speaks to how effective they are. And there is always a price to pay for being that good. People figure, You are handling it. And they don't contribute. Come on folks. The link is at the top of the thread.

Its the same old story actually...

The Foreign Invading...looting...colonising...India for a THOUSAND YEARS....Ohers had huge empires and huge armies, huge reputations of bravery and valour...Rajputs and Maharthas and what not....BUT IT WAS THE SIKHS of GURU NANAK who SEALED SHUT the DERA KHYBER and stopped the Foreign Invaders and chased the out...SIKHS who came late, had very small numbers, no empires, or armies and very little resources...

Punjab fell LAST to the Invading BRITISH...was only colonised for 90 years..whiel the rest of the mighty Indian empires and states of valour..Rajputana and Marthas Hyderbad..etc etc were colonised for many hundred years MORE..and again it fell to the Valiant SIKHS of PUNJAB who put in the most sacrifices to drive the British OUT.

So here again..in the 21st century context..the MINORITY SIKHS are doing the exact same thing they have been doing ever since GURU NANAK raised his lone voice against tyranny, injustice etc etc...

The SIKH COALITION..SALDEF..Global Sikhs...Sikh First Aid...and many others are doing a Herculean task...and YES people..JOIN THEM...and HELP THEM....dont stand at the sidelines...they do really NEED all the help you cna give them..:redturban:welcomemunda:singhsippingcoffee:
