Here on Sikhphilosphy there are lots of people who cannot handle many SIkhs changing the way they live the so-called "silent crying of the Sikhs"

It is also possible that many of us are talking about saving Sikhi etc etc but we ourselves have not had children yet

It may be possible that when you have children that they also want a modern look on life and you may well be one of those people who say "oh times have changed now its okay"

Perhaps you do not need to change because you are devout but maybe some of you need to accept peoples decisions as to how they want to live their lives and concentrate more on yourself rather than dividng your energy

Here is an example of when someone cries silent tears and expects others to live by an illusion of self standards

A man could not bear his daughters Western ways so killed her: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-shropshire-12369667

Dear Badshah Ji

Perhaps you do not need to change because you are devout but maybe some of you need to accept peoples decisions as to how they want to live their lives and concentrate more on yourself rather than dividng your energy

What would be your advice to those unfortunate enough to find themselves in such a predicament? Do they just abandon their children or are there some positive steps they might try before deciding on such abandonment?

Would you really say Mr Ubhi was devout? I'm not sure I agree. Keeping kesh and a turban doesn't automatically mean one actually follows Sikhism. To me he sounds like a control freak, especially when looking at his own marriage history. He should have also been through anger management classes after his 1st sentence. On the point of balancing 2 cultures-its tough and every generation has different priorities/outlook. Every generation clashes! Now culture has been thrown in the mix but the 2 are not mutually exclusive-it's a balancing act like everything else in life.
