Asatpaḏī.
Eight stanzas hymn

Barahm gi▫ānī nirmal ṯe nirmalā. Jaise mail na lāgai jalā.
Most learned is purest of the pure. Just as filth does not stick to water.

Barahm gi▫ānī kai man ho▫e pargās. Jaise ḏẖar ūpar ākās.
Most learned’s mind is enlightened. Just as sky above the earth.

Barahm gi▫ānī kai miṯar saṯar samān. Barahm gi▫ānī kai nāhī abẖimān.
Most learned sees friend and enemy as same. Most learned does not have egotism.

Barahm gi▫ānī ūcẖ ṯe ūcẖā. Man apnai hai sabẖ ṯe nīcẖā.
Most learned is higher than the highest. In own mind thinks self to be the lowest.

Barahm gi▫ānī se jan bẖa▫e. Nānak jin parabẖ āp kare▫i. ||2||
Such become the most learned. Nanak, those that the creator so makes.
ESSENCE: In the salok, Guru ji talk about the esteemed wise. One with pure mind, pure speech and recognizing of but one creator.

Guru Arjan Dev ji in Astpadi 8, 2nd stanza/hymn, talk about the esteemed wise. Indirectly Guru ji also define what is supreme wisdom. The wise is untainted just as water stays pure, bright mind like the sky above earth, friend and foe are no different with no ego interference and the most wise believes self to be least knowing. This is a state that allows one to be ever wiser with every passing day.

Guru ji conclude that the wise become that are so enabled by the creator.
Please note all errors are mine and I stand corrected.

This is the perfect line, how the world sees you and how you see the world :)

Barahm gi▫ānī ūcẖ ṯe ūcẖā. Man apnai hai sabẖ ṯe nīcẖā.
Most learned is higher than the highest. In own mind thinks self to be the lowest.
Kanwaljit Singh ji thanks for your thoughts. I find it great joy beyond being our SGGS how rich the poetic, observational and genuine connectedness to reality the poetry is. Many times I am so enthralled in how such was captured and what a gift by our Guru jis.

Sat Sri Akal.
