ਸਲੋਕੁ ॥
Salok.
Salok (Core theme of eight sabads/hymns in the Astpadi)

ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਾਨਨਹਾਰ ॥ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਉਧਰੀਐ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਲਿਹਾਰ ॥੧॥
Sarab kalā bẖarpūr parabẖ birthā jānanhār. Jā kai simran uḏẖrī▫ai Nānak ṯis balihār. ||1||
Creator has all power and is knowing of suffering. Nanak forever respectfully appreciates, in contemplation of such we are saved.

ਅਸਟਪਦੀ॥
Asatpaḏī.
Eight stanzas hymn

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ॥ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਆਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਚੀਤਿ ॥
Jā kai man gur kī parṯīṯ. Ŧis jan āvai har parabẖ cẖīṯ.
One who has trust of creator in the mind. Such person embellishes the great creator in heart.

ਭਗਤੁ ਭਗਤੁ ਸੁਨੀਐ ਤਿਹੁ ਲੋਇ ॥ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਏਕੋ ਹੋਇ ॥
Bẖagaṯ bẖagaṯ sunī▫ai ṯihu lo▫e. Jā kai hirḏai eko ho▫e.
Such person in the past, present and future is recognized as a devotee. Only one so resides in the heart of such.

ਸਚੁ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਚੁ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਰਹਤ ॥ ਸਚੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਸਤਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਕਹਤ ॥
Sacẖ karṇī sacẖ ṯā kī rahaṯ. Sacẖ hirḏai saṯ mukẖ kahaṯ.
Pure are the deeds and pure is the living of such. Pure is the heart and mouth utters only truth.

ਸਾਚੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਆਕਾਰੁ ॥ ਸਚੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਸਾਚਾ ਪਾਸਾਰੁ ॥
Sācẖī ḏarisat sācẖā ākār. Sacẖ varṯai sācẖā pāsār.
True is the vision and truth is seen in all. Serves the truth and spreads the truth.

ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਚੁ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਤਾ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਤਾ ॥੮॥੧੫॥
Pārbarahm jin sacẖ kar jāṯā. Nānak so jan sacẖ samāṯā. ||8||15||
One who recognizes the supreme creator as the truth. Nanak such people are ingrained with truthful one.

ESSENCE: In the salok, Guru ji describe the creator as all powerful and knowing of all. We are saved in respectful contemplation of such and to be so thankful.

Guru Arjan Dev ji in Astpadi 15, 8th and last sabad of this Astpadi, describe the states of oneness with the creator. Trust in one creator embellishes the heart, such people are recognized in time immemorial, pure and truthful in and out, so gives such an example for others to follow.

Guru ji conclude that those with understanding of one creator get immersed in the so truthful one creator.
