Salok (Core theme of eight sabads/hymns in the Astpadi)

Sanṯ saran jo jan parai so jan uḏẖranhār. Sanṯ kī ninḏā nānkā bahur bahur avṯār. ||1||
Those who seek humble guidance from the pious, such are saved. Nanak, denigrating the pious encumbers one in repetitive births.

Asatpaḏī.
Eight stanzas hymn

Sanṯ ke ḏūkẖan ṯe mukẖ bẖavai. Sanṯan kai ḏūkẖan kāg ji▫o lavai.
Hurting the pious one’s face looks distraught. Hurting the pious one becomes repetitious as though like a crow.

Sanṯan kai ḏūkẖan sarap jon pā▫e. Sanṯ kai ḏūkẖan ṯarigaḏ jon kirmā▫e.
Hurting the pious turns into a snake incarnation. Hurting the pious one transforms into incarnations of animals and birds.

Sanṯan kai ḏūkẖan ṯarisnā mėh jalai. Sanṯ kai ḏūkẖan sabẖ ko cẖẖalai.
Hurting the pious one burns in greed. Hurting the pious deceives all.

Sanṯ kai ḏūkẖan ṯej sabẖ jā▫e. Sanṯ kai ḏūkẖan nīcẖ nīcẖā▫e.
Hurting the pious one loses all influence. Hurting the pious one becomes lowest of low.

Sanṯ ḏokẖī kā thā▫o ko nāhi. Nānak sanṯ bẖāvai ṯā o▫e bẖī gaṯ pāhi. ||2||
One hurtful of the pious finds no place of support. Nanak if the pious so like even such are saved.
ESSENCE: In the salok, Guru ji describe the importance of company of the pious and the futility of denigrating the pious. Salvation comes in the company and restless transformations follow ill will towards the pious.

Guru Arjan Dev ji in Astpadi 13, 2nd sabad describe the after affects of ill treating the pious. A distraught face, crowing away, transformations into reptiles, animals and birds, burning away in greed, a deceitful life, loss of respect and so becoming low life.

Guru ji conclude one ill treating the pious has no place but still can be saved by the grace of a pious one so wishing.

NOTE: There is marvelous use of metaphors in this sabad to address and convey the audience of the Guru ji's times. It is a dis-service to turn these around as though Guru ji imply belief in any subject(s) of metaphors.
Please note all errors are mine and I stand corrected.
