Salok.
Salok (Core theme of eight sabads/hymns in the Astpadi)

Usṯaṯ karahi anek jan anṯ na pārāvār. Nānak racẖnā parabẖ racẖī baho biḏẖ anik parkār. ||1||
Many people praise thee but there are no limits to such. Nanak, the creator architected this universe with many methods of different types.

Asatpaḏī.
Eight stanzas hymn

Ka▫ī kot rājas ṯāmas sāṯak. Ka▫ī kot beḏ purān simriṯ ar sāsaṯ.
Many million seek, get blinded, and get peace. Many million are scriptures, simritees and treatises.

Ka▫ī kot kī▫e raṯan samuḏ. Ka▫ī kot nānā parkār janṯ.
Many million pearls created in the ocean. Many million types of life.

Ka▫ī kot kī▫e cẖir jīve. Ka▫ī kot girī mer suvran thīve.
Many million created to have long life. Many million mountains where gold exists.

Ka▫ī kot jakẖ▫y kinnar pisācẖ. Ka▫ī kot bẖūṯ pareṯ sūkar marigācẖ.
Many million deities under deity of wealth, deities with horse’s head and human body, and low life. Many million demons and ghosts, swine and deer hunters.

Sabẖ ṯe nerai sabẖhū ṯe ḏūr. Nānak āp alipaṯ rahi▫ā bẖarpūr. ||4||
Near to all, far from all. Nanak, the untainted creator by self is in all.
ESSENCE: In the salok, Guru ji state that many try to describe the creator but such is limitless. The creator creates with a variety of methods and of different types.

Guru Arjan Dev ji in Astpadi 10, 4th sabad continue descriptive of real and imaginary believed by the people so addressed. Many millions of glory seekers, treatises, pearls in the ocean, types of life, long living life forms, mountains with gold, the deities and ghosts.

Guru ji conclude creator near to all, far from all and in all.
SPECIAL NOTE … contd from Astpadi 10, sabad 3: In this sabad the reference to “many millions” of deities and demons as a matter of practicality destroys the Hinduism focus on a handful of their deities and demons as well as the use of such to control the masses. Creator is omni-present linked with believed or real many millions of manifestations.

Please note all errors are mine and I stand corrected.

Sat Sri Akal.

Veer ji, you translated that on your own?
Tigerstylez ji thanks for your post.

I study as follows and then share my thoughts,

  • Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji (Punjabi)
  • Prof. Sahib Singh ji Darpan (Punjabi)
  • Bhai Manmohan Singh ji's Teeka (Punjabi)
  • Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa ji's translation (English)
  • Sometimes fro clarity, Mahan Kosh by Kahn Singh ji Nabha (Punjabi)
My understanding that I share rarily (but at times so) lines up 100% with any of the interpretations. From English perspective, I probably am same as Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa ji's translation much less than 1% of the time.
