Every religion has various ways to praise the one Universal God which Sikhism speaks about.

When video clips are presented, we are not suggesting that we approve of the path, cult or religion but merely showing how the various people of the world praise the Lord God who is all-prevading, omni-present, omni-potent and omni-scient.

Nanak, as a great Teacher, anticipates the confusion that might arise in the minds of some seekers by the study of various scriptures. These do not always say the same thing about God's Will, but there is no need for doubt and skepticism: for what they really describe is not God's Will (which in itself is indescribable), but its various workings and manifestations. God's Will pervades and directs His Creation, but it is something more, something that is itself and above and beyond creation.
STANZA III
  • Some sing of His greatness, but only according to
    the power bestowed upon them;
    Some sing of His bounties, taking them as His signs;
    Some sing of Him as incomprehensible;
    Some sing of Him, as transmitting dust into life, and life
    into dust again: Creator and Destroyer, the Giver of life
    and its Withdrawer.
    Some sing of Him as at once the nearest, and the most remote,
    There is no end to His description.
    Countless have tried to describe Him, but He still stands
    beyond all description.
    His recipients may tire, but His bounty is untiring;
    Ages upon ages, Man has fed upon it.
    His Will directs the world;
    And yet, O Nanak, He dwells beyond concern or care.

I love listening to the hymns. In fact I get hooked going to the gurdwara just because the hymns sang there were just so melodious, and soothing to my soul. I could sit there for hours long listening to the peaceful melody, though I understood none of the words.

"I was a minstrel, out of work, when the Lord took me into His service. To sing His Praises day and night, He gave me His Order, right from the start. My Lord and Master has summoned me, His minstrel, to the True Mansion of His Presence. He has dressed me in the robes of His True Praise and Glory. The Ambrosial Nectar of the True Name has become my food. Those who follow the Guru's Teachings, who eat this food and are satisfied, find peace. His minstrel spreads His Glory, singing and vibrating the Word of His Shabad. O Nanak, praising the True Lord, I have obtained His Perfection."

Sing I could, yet the songs are just so very pleasant to my poor being.
Aaaa...what a soul food..

Gurubani= guru+bani= God's+word =put in Hymns
Keertan = Eulogisation of the lord by singing the Hymns

Hence Gurbani Keertan or simply , Keertan is praising Him through the singing of Hymns.
It should be the approximate explanation /answer to that you have asked.

"Khuda ki kudrat aur uski rehmato ka khyal kar ke uskay gun-gaan karna/bandagi karna hi keertan hey. "

Insha allah, You will know urdu soon.!

Good reading at this link.

Sikh80 ji got me going -- because I did not know what Inshulla means. So it will be done, we will all understand the words to the kirtaan we love, Inshulla.

???????: The many meanings of the word: Inshullah

P/S - This site is the blog of a young perhaps Arabian or Kuwaiti man. It has some of the most clever material on it. Great sayings, jokes, metaphysical humor. Meaning that some members of younger generation do have a sense of humor after all :wink:

ਅਖਰੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਖਰੀ ਸਾਲਾਹ ॥
अखरी नामु अखरी सालाह ॥
Akẖrī nām akẖrī sālāh.
From the Word, comes the Naam; from the Word, comes Your Praise.

Fits this thread really nicely. Psalm 138
Hallelujah!

Praise the LORD from the heavens; give praise in the heights.
Praise him, all you angels; give praise, all you hosts.
Praise him, sun and moon; give praise, all shining stars.
Praise him, highest heavens, you waters above the heavens.
Let them all praise the LORD'S name; for the LORD commanded and they were created, Assigned them duties forever, gave them tasks that will never change.
Praise the LORD from the earth, you sea monsters and all deep waters;
You lightning and hail, snow and clouds, storm winds that fulfill his command;
You mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars;
You animals wild and tame, you creatures that crawl and fly;
You kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all who govern on earth;
Young men and women too, old and young alike.
Let them all praise the LORD'S name, for his name alone is exalted, majestic above earth and heaven.
The LORD has lifted high the horn of his people; to the glory of all the faithful, of Israel, the people near to their God. Hallelujah!

When video clips are presented, we are not suggesting that we approve of the path, cult or religion but merely showing how the various people of the world praise the Lord God who is all-prevading, omni-present, omni-potent and omni-scient.

Some of those videos were really awesome.

Many thanks Sikh80. That's very nice.
Yes, inshallah I will be able to know urdu.

And Aaad..., "inshallah" means:
'by Allah/God's willing'

We are God/Allah subjects, and we are as what God/Allah wants us to be.
