One should always remember the ever-present, the self-existent Lord who always Loves His devotees and they are always command respect in this world of human affairs. It is through the Grace of Guru that the God wells in the mind of the devotees and the egotism of such a person gets subdued. But this wandering mind only comes to rest when He casts the Glance of His grace.

The self willed, Manmukh does not work the way the Guru advices and His mind is filled with the filth on account of following the duality of maya and he is always subservient to the sensual pleasure.He is spritually blind and his physical body also deteriorates and he has no support and finds no place of rest. He is always in the cycle of Birth and Death, like crows in a deserted house.It is through the Guru's Teachings, the heart is illuminated. It is only through the following of the teachings of Guru’s Shabad that one receives the Name of the Lord. ||2||

In the poison of the three qualities, there is blindness. The Maya leads to attachment and in attachment to Maya there is always darkness i.e one remains in duality. The effect of Maya is to mislead the person from achieving higher spiritual stages. Such kind of people falls in the trap of lower instincts like greed and begins serving others, instead of the One, the self- existent even they loudly announce their reading of scriptures like Vedas. They are burnt to death by the poison of these lower instincts and they wander without any fixed destination or goal in the life, nor they find anything useful in the present life and nor anything for the next life as well. ||3||

In attachment to Maya those forgot the Supreme Lord who is the Cherisher of the World and who sustains the entire creation. Without the Guru, all are unconscious; they are held in bondage by the Messenger of Death and remain in the cycle of death and Birth. Says Nanak, through the Guru's Teachings, you shall be saved, contemplating the True Name as the Lord comes and dwells in the mind of such devotees who are in the sanctuary of Guru. ||4||10||43||
