It is all-pervasive and anyone who takes birth has to die one day and all those coming here they remain affected by the influence of Maya unless one is Graced upon by the Lord. The Lord Himself has created it. The effect of Maya and how it has influenced the mankind has been stated at many places in bani:</strong></p><p><strong></strong></p><p><span style="font-family: 'Gurbaniwebthick'">mwieAw kwrix krY aupwau ] kbih n GwlY sIDw pwau [1151-15]</span></p><p></p><p><em>and </em></p><p><span style="font-family: 'Gurbaniwebthick'"></span></p><p><span style="font-family: 'Gurbaniwebthick'">sMig shweI su AwvY n cIiq ] jo bYrweI qw isau pRIiq ] [5-267-17]</span></p><p></p><p><strong>It is only those who really become Gurmukh i.e by following Guru’s Teachings/Gurmat/ bani/Guru Shabads that he obtains the Fourth stage. The stage is called as ‘Turia’ state. Any person in this stage is at higher spiritual level.This spiritual level is also obtained if it is either pre-ordained or the individual is Graced upon by Kartaar. In this state the Maya and tri-gunas have no effect on the seeker/devotee. It is the Lord who takes those into His sanctuary in whose mind He dwells in the form of Name of Lord.Only those who are virtuous finds place in Sat-sangat. It is sat-sangat that one can really become close to the Lord. Bani further states that He is always present in the Sat-sangat. Keep on Praising Him. It is through the true sabad /bani that one merges into the Lord. [In the above line the phrase ‘<em>sache sabad Milao</em>’ appears and it has no face /independent meaning unless some thing is assigned to it.I have assigned the meaning that: one merges into the Lord through the contemplation of bani. There can some other ways also in which the line can be assigned some meaning so that the coherence is maintained.] </strong></p><p><strong></strong></p><p>ਿਜਨੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਛਾਿਣਆ ਿਤਨ ਿਵਟਹੁ ਬਿਲ ਜਾਉ ॥</p><p> ਆਪੁ ਛੋਿਡ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਗਾ ਚਲਾ ਿਤਨ ਕੈ ਭਾਇ ॥</p><p> ਲਾਹਾ ਹਿਰ ਹਿਰ ਨਾਮੁ ਿਮਲੈ ਸਹਜੇ ਨਾਿਮ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੨॥ </p><p></p><p><strong>Those who have understood the true significance of the Naam, have been spoken of very high by the Guru sahibaan in this line. They overcome ego and Guru Sahib are in full praise of those devotees. One should have a Guru, with the guidance of whom, one can find Him or one can understand His essence. One who, with the blessings of Guru, overcomes the Lower instincts ,that appear on account of five senses, remains in the state of spiritual bliss and thus one become a devotee as the Lord likes. There is not an iota of doubt that if one meets the Guru through the Guru shabad/Bani that devotee and the Guru becomes one i.e. Ek Jyot.
