Thats Malayanpunjabi...naam japp jio...and there is English-Punjabi..and French Punajbi and all sorts too. Those who migrated to UK used to phone home and say..Door te koi ayeha hai..soembodys at the Door..when those in Punjab would never understand "door" as they say baar, booha, even Gate...or Bahar (outside).. The other day i phoned a friend in Sultanpur and he was not picking up his handphone. Finally when he did, he told me..Bhaa ji, phone dighee wich see...and I went like..dighee wich ? why for heavens sake couldnt you answer it then..it would be on the shelf or the sink didnt you ehar it ringing. DIGHEE in malaysian Punjabi is bathroom..in Punjab its the word for the Scooter "boot" or car "boot". So what he emant was he left his phone locked in his scooter's boot/box and since it was parked far away..he heard nothing..i took it to eman that he ahd it with him in his BATH !! ha ha The Dighee word had also lots of laughs when i visited Punjab.. I would say..I am going to the Dighee (meaning Bathroom) and..everyone would wonder..what the heck is he talking about..hiw cna he "go into the dighee ? and whatever for ? and How becasue there is no scooter/car anywhere nearby ?? Had a good laugh everytime some new visitor came... And soem of the elders who had been to Malaya long ago were proud to show me they also knew soem Malayan words...Lembu (cows)...piso ( pisau for knife)..kerbau...(buffalo)..and they would laugh loudly that when they came back and used them..no body understood them..bilah is for room...and its Male Cat in punajb..soembody asked me where my Pants is and I replied its inside the bilah at the back...and the person went and shouted..Gyani dee pant bilah lai giyah..the Male Cat ran away with Gyanis pants. The MUGHALS/MUSLIMS were such Forward thinkers..wehn they arrived and wnated to quickly make their langauge popular among the locals..they very cleverly ATTACHED their own Arabic/F{censored}e terminology to the Local Punjabi terms...and over time these NEW TERMS assumed a different meaning and enriched our Langauge..Examples.. KAALA is Punjabi for BLACK..and SIAH/SHAH is BLACK in F{censored}e/arabic..so the New term KAALA-SIAH/SHAH firtsly made it easier for the locals to learn the enw term for Black..adn over time the New word Kaalsiah became to mean TOTALLY BLACK..or RICH BLACK...similarly..RED- became LAAL-SOOHA, PEELA-BHOOK etc etc..SADLY Now under the Heels of the Indian Administration, PUNJABI is being HIDUISED...sanskiritised with totally nonsensical ancient words..can anyone imagine a RAILWAY Train beign callaed LOH PATT GAMINI..IRON HORSE CARRIAGE (Sanskrti) wehn everyone knows what a Railway Train is..simialrly words like Hopsital, school, hasptaal, klinik, (clinic) etc are alredy well established in Punajbi but are beign phased out in favour of sanskirt rooted words never used ...SPELLINGS of PUNJABI are also being systematically destroyed on Govt signboards etc in Punjab...i saw a signboard on the Highway..MORINDA in English and HINDI correctly spelt and given PROMINENCE..while the Punjabi was at the BOTTOm and WRONGLY speleld to murinda..O sound replaced by short U sound. In FACT PUNJAB is the only state in India where one finds the LEAST PUNJABI if at all..
