Prof. Darshan Singh's Next Appearance At Akal Takhat

May 23, 2009
Respected Sangat Ji,

Waheguru Ji KA Khalsa
Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Here is more information:

Prof Darshan Singh granted one more chance to appear before Akal Takht

AMRITSAR: After a marathon meeting of Sikh clergy led by Akal Takht (highest Sikh temporal seat) Jatehdar Gyani Gurbachan Singh Thursday granted one more chance to former Akal Takht Jatehdar Professor Darshan Singh to appear on January 29 following the latter failed to appear before the Takht.

Talking to media persons, Jatehdar Gurbachan Singh said that Professor Darshan Singh was granted one more and last chance to prove his innocence before Akal Takht on January 29.

Earlier, last month on December 5 in an edict issued by Sikh clergy, Darshan Singh was given time to appear in person before the Akal Takht being a humble Sikh today (January 7) to accept religious punishment; otherwise Akal Takht may take extreme steps against his arrogance but today adopting lenient view, granted one more chance to him.

However, last month, Jathedar Gyani Gurbachan Singh had declared Darshan Singh Tankhayia (guilty for religious misconduct), when he did not bother to appear before Sikh clergy and returned from outside Akal Takht while leaving his file of clarification. Darshan Singh was demanding that Sikh clergy should hear his clarification in full public view, whereas, Sikh clergy were for in camera meeting.

Darshan was declared Tankhaiya due to his non appearance before the Sikh clergy at Akal Takht as he was allegedly guilty for uttering blasphemous remarks against the tenth Sikh master Guru Gobind Singh at USA.
Professor Darshan Singh is a renowned Sikh scholar and well connected to Sikh community at various foreign countries and remained Jathedar Akal Takht during the peak days of militancy in Punjab in the year of 1986.

Whereas, Sikh clergy in a last month edict said that Darshan Singh had arrived at Akal Takht carrying ego in his head, since he had violated all the norms of Sikh religion during his appearance at sacred Akal Takht.

Edict also advised the Sikh community all over the world that Darshan Singh would not be entertained at anywhere in the world particularly in any Sikh shrine unless Darshan Singh appears at Akal Takht and accept punishment awarded by Sikh clergy.

Akal Takht sources today made it clear that if Professor Darshan Singh failed to appear before the Sikh clergy on January 29 with his clarification regarding his innocence, would be excommunicated from Sikh fold.

Iqbal Singh said 'earlier Patna Sahib, Hazur Sahib & even Sant Samaj had reservations about the calendar'. So it is ok to clear reservations of these three bodies but the reservations of DGMC are anti-Sikh????

SGPC needs to take various other visionary steps too.

1. Make changes for Sikhs who follow Dera sacha sauda to take amrit the way Ram Rahim prepares it.
2. Make changes for the Naamdharis to have a living Guru.
3. Make changes for Nirankaris to follow their side view of Gurmat.
4. Install idols of Hindu dieties back in Darbar Sahib.
5. Make changes for Sikhs to have more than one wife, it will save all those coverting to Islam to marry another wife.
6. Make changes for RSS to nominate members to SGPC.

Think about the unity these actions will bring!!! And Sikhs will grow from millions to billions within days!!!!

Funny how Sant Samaj spearheaded the movement to have 'mone' declared NON-SIKH and threw them out of Sikhi without the need to ex-communicate large number of people!!!! And now they talk about Unity. With whom????

Gyani ji

You know this pdf document is excellent. It helps a lot. It is possible to make a timeline from it so that the saffron attempts to drown Sikh voices can be set out in clear outlines. It would be easy to access the historical details at a glance. Many thanks.

Sant Samaj and DSGPC were standing together when the court case was fought. It was a very practical move. If the concept of sehajdhari sikh passed legally then it would have created much more problems for sikhs.Truck load of Punjabi hindu's would have entered
in sikh education instituitions caling themselves as sikhs. In Gurdwara election UP bihari's will be used by all parties to decide the outcome of elections. Please try to understand
ground level realities of India.
