Akal Takht Jathedar Gurbachan Singh, on Giani Gurbachan Singh, on Friday, denied the bias charge leveled against him by Dal Khalsa and former Takht jathedar Prof Darshan Singh He was acting under political pressure while deciding panthic issues, the two had said.

The Jathedar, who was talking to reporters at Kamalpur village, said: "The Akal Takht has never worked under pressure, and it never will." The charges, he said, were merely the two leaders' reaction to being cornered for wrongdoings.

To the accusation by Prof Darshan Singh that the decision of Sikh clergy to summon him to the Takht on December 5 for derogatory remarks on Guru Gobind Singh was politically motivated, the Takht Jathedar said hundreds of complaints were received against Prof Darshan Singh, in writing, via e-mail and on phone.

On the former jathedar's reported statement that he would appear only at the Takht and not before any individual or a closed door meeting, Giani Gurbachan Singh said that they were ready to follow the practice adopted by Prof Darshan Singh in this regard during his tenure as Takht chief.

Earlier, Giani Gurbachan Singh, Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib Jathedar Giani Tarlochan Singh, Takht Damdama Sahib Jathedar Balwant Singh Nandgarh and other Sikh religious leaders laid the foundation stone for the 56th Akal Academy to be set up by Kalgidhar Trust, Barru Sahib (HP), at Kamalpur village.

The Jathedar lauded the Trust's efforts in providing high standard religious and moral education to students.

The academy would be a milestone, he said.

I am wondering how you put the toothpaste back in the tube -- even if it wants to back up a tiny bit?

  • Its shocking that out of 23 million Sikhs worldwide only few hundred people even bothered to report the matter?

  • I am curious and hope they are able to provide full details and confirmed information of all those people who complained via phone or email or even sent written complaints...
  • Did they ever bothered to identify the authenticity of these persons?
  • How many of those emails were sent by omnipresent, Inder singh and his gang members (Jokers like OnlyFive etc)? :D

so whats gonna happen? perhaps badal will make deal with sarna and dgmc will relent and ask prof darshan singh to do the same so that anti-badals escape being humiliated and badal reaps rewards. badal is amazing, he has outwitted every opponent from barnala to tohra to amarinder!!! i guess this is more to do with who controls sgpc and inturn supreme temporal seat.

Re: Out on a Limb Too Far? Takht denies BADAL involvement

Let me share another clue. The link posted below was sent to me to prove a point about the political leanings of Gurcharanjit S. Lamba -- but having nothing really to do with this discussion. When I opened the link a strong beam of sunlight lit my field of vision. I saw something I had never before known.

You will see a large collection of videos in which Mr. Gurcharanjit S. Lamba educates the public on many topics.

Before you click on the link, let's review some recent events.

1. Mr. Gurcharanjit S. Lamba acquired a DVD from a Mr. Sekhan Singh of the Rochester NY Sangat. The DVD was allegedly evidence that Professor Darshan Singh is, in expressing his views of Dasam Granth, anti-panthic. I will keep it short.

2. Mr. Gurcharanjit S. Lamba sent an edited version of that DVD to the Akaal Takht, and a bogus letter from the Rochester Sangat was also sent complaining about Professor Darshan Singh.

3. The Akaal Takht with other Takhts was inspired to call Professor Darshan Singh to defend his "heresies" based in part upon this information. An Edict or sandesh was issued. First it was issued in its entirety prematurely on the Internet without a date or signature. Later it was issued with a date and signature.

4. Mr. Gurcharanjit S. Lamba appeared on JUS Punjabi TV along with the edited DVD and explained why Professor Darshan Singh should be "excommunicated" in so many words.

5. When Mr. Sekhan Singh offered a complete copy of the original file, JUS Punjabi TV refused to consider it. (Mr. Sikhan Singh had erased the original; however paid $1,000.00 US to have the file recovered by computer analysts.)

Why was the offer of a complete DVD refused by JUS Punjabi TV?

6. OK - -now you can open the link. You will see that Mr. Gurcharanjit S. Lamba has his own regularly scheduled TV spots on JUS Punjabi TV. JUS Punjabi TV is BTW a privately owned cable station.

TV Talk Show

Keep paging through this collection of editorials by Mr. Gurcharanjit S. Lamba, and you will discover that he even reports on the 2009 Indian elections, pre and post.

He is an unbiased observer of the Indian political scenery I presume? :welcome::welcome::welcome: And, JUS Punjabi TV? What about that?

Re: Out on a Limb Too Far? Takht denies BADAL involvement

Latest news

SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar on Friday asked former Akal Takht Jathedar Prof Darshan Singh to appear before the Takht like a devout Sikh, without making a hue and cry about it. Reacting to Prof Darshan Singh's claim that he faced a threat to his life in appearing before Akal Takht, Makkar said a Sikh need not fear anything while appearing before the Takht established by sixth Sikh Guru Hargobind.

The Sikh clergy have summoned Prof Darshan Singh for allegedly misleading the Sangat by quoting the Dasam Granth in his preaching despite a ban on the text by Akal Takht.
