Amritsar : The Sikh clerics on Wednesday decided to excommunicate Bhai Dharam Singh Nihang from Sikh Panth for uploading on YouTube a “controversial conversation on Sher-e-Punjab radio that raised many ifs and buts over Guru Granth Sahib”. The clerics, who met at Akal Takht, also directed Sikhs across the world not to keep any kind of ties with him nor allow him to speak in any religious or social programmes.
Underlining that gurdwaras were for all irrespective of castes, the Sikh high priests warned that no person should be denied entry to gurdwaras on the basis of castes. The Takht has received complaints in this regard. While issuing a warning to stop such a practice, the clerics said that those found to be indulging in non-compliance of directions will face strict action as per Gur Maryada (Sikh religious code of conduct).
The Sikh priests, who directed the managers of gurdwara Khalsa Parkash Windsor to lift the ban on entry of some devotees in the gurdwara, also warned politicians not to use the verses of Gurbani on political stickers pasted on the walls in the city.

AMRITSAR: Sikh high priests on Thursday excommunicated Bhai Dharam Singh Nihang for uploading a video of a controversial debate on Sri Guru Granth Sahib on YouTube. The decision was taken in a meeting of five Sikh high priests held at the Akal Takht secretariat.
Talking to mediapersons, Akal Takht jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh said the Akal Takht had summoned Nihang to submit his clarification but he deliberately ignored the directions time and again. Several ifs and buts had been raised on Sri Guru Granth Sahib in the controversial debate on YouTube, he said.
The clerics have directed Sikhs around the globe to neither maintain any kind of relation with Nihang nor invite him to any religious function. In another significant decision, the Sikh clerics have issued directions that no one can construct gurdwaras on the basis of castes. Many villages have separate gurdwaras for jat Sikhs and majhabis.
The Sikh high priests have also cautioned persons contesting elections not to use gurbani phrases on the election material such as stickers.
