One of my friend sent the following E-mail to me Author: Mr. Ravinder Singh. This is really a throught provoking E-mail.

Shame of NDA 2003 Afro-Asian Games vs Glorious CWG 2010

It was not Shining but Shaming India NDA organized Afro Asian Games 2003 like a poverty stricken beggar – could spare just $23m. No investment was made on improving Airport, Roads, Games Village, International Standard Stadiums etc. It is also amazing India and Pakistan have exploded 12 Nuclear Bombs to intimidate others were Cooperating in Bribing $0.1m to Commonwealth Games members to bid for Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games.

Afro Asian Games 2003 Cost was games for a song in real sense too considering AR Rehman theme Song for Commonwealth Games cost more than playing arena expenditure (excluding Hotel Bills.)

Our press and stupid CAG forgets’ that Commonwealth Games 2010 followed China hosting Olympics 2008 that cost $40b against $15b planned. So India had to display its potential and spent US$2.56 billion – this is reasonable at $2 per capita. All big ticket projects were started by NDA like Metro Rail or New Terminal that were executed by Congress government.

It will people of India to discover India organized 2003 Afro-Asian Games in Hyderabad that cost just Rs. 103 crore (US$ 22.92 million) and this too was largely funded by PSUs not Chandrababu Naidu the CM of AP.

It was shame of India didn’t cost even Rs.1 per capita – ‘Even though Hyderabad had hosted the 32nd National Games of India in 2002, for which a Games Village had been built, the organizers could not utilise it due to severe financial problems. It was estimated that about Rs 800 million (US$ 16 million) would be required to upgrade the existing Games Village’

Rs. 80 crores was required for AA Games Village renovation but a state larger in population than UK or France couldn’t arrange even $16m.

There was therefore no facility for the Sportsmen to practice and prepare for the games all were put up in Hyderabad Hotels.

Laxmi Mittal spent $60m on his daughters wedding.

A ballot of members was held in November 2003 at the Commonwealth Games Federation General Assembly in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Delhi bid won by a margin of 46 votes to 22, confirming India's first successful bid for the Games.

India shifted the balance in its favour in the second round of voting with a promise that it would provide US$100,000 to each participating country, along with air tickets, boarding, lodging and transport. The successful 2003 Afro-Asian Games held in Hyderabad was also seen as having showed India has the resources, infrastructure and technical know-how to stage a big sporting event. India also thanked Latif Butt, former vice president of the Olympic Council of Asia, for his support in the winning bid, by saying, "You played a vital role in the Commonwealth Games 2010 being allotted to India. Such actions are worthy of emulation by all concerned in Pakistan and India. I have no doubt that if both sides continue to live by such ideals, one day, sooner than later our generations to come will reap the benefits of and be grateful to those making such contributions.

The initial total budget estimated by the Indian Olympic Association in 2003 for hosting the Games was 1,620 crore (US$ 361.26 million). In 2010, however, the official total budget soon escalated to an estimated 11,500 crore ( US$2.56 billion), a figure which excluded non-sports-related infrastructure development. Business Today magazine estimated that the Games cost 60,000 crore ( US$13.38 billion). The 2010 Commonwealth Games are reportedly the most expensive Commonwealth Games ever.

On March 6, 2009 the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games reported that total spending on the games was "generally as much as that of the Athens 2004 Olympic Games", which was about $15 billion. They went on to claim that surplus revenues from the Games would exceed the original target of $16 million. Other sources, however, estimated that approximately $40 billion had been spent on the Games, which would make it the most expensive Olympic Games by a wide margin.

True to its reputation RSS BJP scoundrels didn’t relish India Shine by shaming India instead – even tough people of India had rejected them in subsequent elections.

Scoundrel CAG Vinod Rai can’t differentiate between LED lighting installed around Game sites and Halogen lighting.

Delhi had the budget and resources to buy the best for Commonwealth Games 2010.

It was the Corruption of 2003 era NDA that bribed Commonwealth Games.

India and Pakistan collaborate in civilian projects need appreciation.

Vajpayee also indicted in 2G scam, Congress tells BJP
NEW DELHI: A day after the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) targetted Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and then finance minister P. Chidambaram over A. Raja's statement on the 2G scam, the Congress on Tuesday hit back saying that former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was also indicted by the former telecommunications minister.

"If the BJP decides to make a song and dance about one part of Raja's statement, then the other part of his statement squarely indicts Atal Bihari Vajpayee also," Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari said.

Raja had said in court Monday: "..If policies pursued by me were wrong, then all former telecom ministers since 1993 should also be in jail with me."

The Congress spokesperson had earlier alleged that former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee took away the charge of telecommunications from Jagmohan during the 1999 Kargil war.

Tewari alleged that the policy of migration adopted by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government led by Vajpayee had caused a loss of 43,000 crore to the exchequer.

He also said that Raja was only an "accused" and his comments in court cannot be relied up on.

"A. Raja is not in the council of ministers, putting unnecessary reliance upon the arguments of an accused in a court of law only serves to vitiate the democratic process," he said.

Raja's lawyer Sushil Kumar Monday had said that 2G spectrum transactions were approved by then finance minister Chidambaram in the presence of the prime minister.

Raja however toned down his comment saying he had no intention to indict any one and the media misquoted him.
