Giani Gurbachan Singh’s appreciation letter sent to Harinder Sikka, the maker of the film has now surfaced online. The letter has goes viral on social media networks.</p><p></p><p>The film which is being released worldwide on April 17, is grave blasphemy against Sikh religion and has it hurt religious sentiments of Sikhs as it presents Guru Nanak Sahib, his family members and aide Bhai Mardana ji through personified ‘characters’. Not only this, role of character of Guru Nanak Sahib has been played by a clean shaved man namely Harish Khanna. Role of Guru Nanak’s sister, Bebe Nanaki Ji, has been played by a Bollywood actress who is known for vulgar acting.</p><p></p><p>The letter is signed by Giani Gurbachan Singh on Akal Takht Sahib’s letterpad with reference number 3936 dated January 22, 2015. He writes, “You are making a film on Guru Nanak Dev Ji and his life events, for which you deserve appretiation. This is a good medium of spreading Sikh religion. May Miri-Peeri de Malak Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib ji grant to you Chardi Kala and well being, so that you could succeed in having the effort fruitful with right spirits.”</p><p></p><p>Although, Harvinder Sikka has claimed that the role of Guru Nanak Sahib is animated in the film, but one of the artists, Adil Hasan, has clarified that the role was played by Harish Khanna. The film does not show Guru Sahib’s face, and shows only his back and hands.</p><p></p><p>It is worth mentioning that at beginning of film’s trailer available on Youtube, Sri Akal Takht Sahib isGiani Gurbachan Singh thanked for supporting the film. However, Takht’s Jathedar recently denied any such support to the anti-Sikh movie. Now, the letter has exposed all the matter.</p><p></p><p>In reference to the letter, the Jathedar has now stated that whenever somebody informs Akal Takht’s jathedar regarding any project related to Sikh religion and history, he is sent a routine letter in view of their sentiments are encouraged. When Sikh24 contacted Giani Gurbachan Singh, he made it clear that he was told that there is no human actor representing Guru Nanak Dev Ji, and it is an animated movie similar to the ‘Chaar Sahibzade”. So, he said, the letter was to appreciate the effort, but not a clean chit to the movie.</p><p></p><p>In addition, Shiroamni Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee president Avtar Makkar has termed the movie as “intolerable”.</p></blockquote><p></p>
