Thank you Chazji for the above posts.
One of the reasons, I say 'one' and not 'the' that I started this thread was for confirmation that I was doing the right thing.- Although, I always knew and felt it was the right thing, but I questioned why others were not doing this. Secondly, was to see how many members were on this path, and if so, at what stage.

I now, have a very good idea thanks to all the replies. I also have some understanding of why, sadly, some refuse to acknowledge naam simran and meditation.

Maybe one can acknowledge, appreciate and comprehend all existence around one self, when one has taken this path. (-Note, I say 'maybe'), as it feels one can see some transparency after trying whereas others have chosen to simply refuse even the trying part.

Does anyone actually think or believe that the Gurus were never in a meditative state ?
Or, are we going to look for references and define meditative state now ?
I'd rather we don't go tangential with responses here and try to stay with the original topic.- Thanks.

Veer Luckysingh ji where you think I belong. An honest answer is welcome as I do believe you recognize the details that some of us may not.

Thank you.

We are Vibration
All creation is Vibration

"What we speak has a positive or negative effect on our bodies or on others"
.
When we have an argument negative vibration energies stick to us!

Day to day life is full of trials tribulations and we find its impossible to
satisfy others all the time. So we are constantly bombarded with Vibrations good and negative.
They both firmly attach to us.
.
Unless we keep our 7 sins in full control, During Meditation we slowly loose our EGO
.
These negative attachments, drain us and eventually
convert into illness or depression.
.
Our Masters realized this can be countered by MEDITATION
When we pray loudly God hears our voice.
When we meditate we allow ourselves to hear the Voice of God.
.
When we meditate these Negative energy Vibration attachments detach from us
as they ABHOR Silence.
.
Meditation rebuilds our Life force allowing these energy negative energy
attachments to detach from us, leaving us healthy again!

Here is my interpretation. This is just from my current understanding of Gurbani.

Those who with Single Mind (very difficult to truely medidate and focus with Single mind during Daily duties where mind is focusing on many things therefore during Amrit Vela is perfect or anytime where one can focus on Naam and only naam) meditate on the Naam (the God energy flowing through the whole of creation and infused in us all which is manifest in Gurbani) and contemplate on the Gurus Teachings.

To meditate = to listen to the sounds of Gurbani, the Vibration, the meaning, to contemplate on Guru ji's teaching, to feel the teachings, the meaning, to ask questions to guru ji and seek the TRUTH...
all of this whilst focussing on Satnaam Waheguru Ji with Single mind is what is Simran and True Meditation.

They whom do this with Love will forever drink the Amrit/connection with the Naam that flows through everything and us.

with Continual Meditation as described above they wash away their EGO and Pride (Haumai). What is to 'Wash Away'. If we want to wash away the Dirt on our Drive Way at home...we need to get a bucket, fill it with water, then go outside and direct the water away from the house to wash the dirt away. If we want to get Rid of our Haumai Lust Anger etc, we do simran with Single mind (complete focus) on Satnaam Waheguru and battle the habits of the mind which will for sure fight back.

Only when the Master of Will (god) shows favour (Grace) will we really start to do Simran/Mediation the correct way with complete love and devotion. Grace is the pull from within that motivates us, directs us, and urges us to start seeking and serving the 'TRUTH' god.

the ones who are blessed by gods grace to follow this path wash away their Ego, pride, lust, anger attachement...They become Pure, and only the pure can merge and be one with the Pure (god). Their family and mother are also saved because they naturally become aware and attracted and affected by this pure person actions and energy. Like the smell of a flower can bring a smile and happiness to so many people who smell it.

The rest (proably 99.9% of the population) Run around tirelessly in Duality (maya) the creation being controlled by Lust, anger, Desire, attachment and Pride/Ego...like machines...

I am one of the 99.9% of people because i am still affected by all of the above...I pray daily at the feet of Waheguru Ji to ferry me across :)

Whether we Sit to do Simran, Mediation, stand on one leg, do a handstand :) if we are contemplating on his greatness, his existance within us and all around and focusing our consciousness on him, the seven seas (chakra's) will balance and open, the naam will flow, the soul will lift itself to the tenth gate and like in the video, the amrit will flow down to us and through us.

This is just to my current understanding and experiences..appologies if anything is incrorrect. Satnaam Sat Sangat Ji.

Interesting post. My personal experience has been "don't go looking for HIM" because when the time is right Guru will pull you in like a fish on a reel! It is already written.

The meditation examples of 7 chakra's is presented because people at different levels of spiritual growth might need those experiences, but a student of Truth also knows the Universe is continuously changing and expressing in unique ways. Why limit to only 7 points when our body alone holds trillions of cells. We are energy made of Atoms my body is made of the same "stuff" as a chair, tv, tree etc. We should attempt to focus all consciousness on the doer behind the action, the ONE that created this massive illusion and Game. That is a feeling and emotion and "connection" that will begin to present itself in the Creation. Inner and outer worlds unite and that is where Life of Joy/Bliss (anand) begins to take flight and soar. This is when we are empowered to walk the path as guided by the inner intelligence (Guru) who connects all the dots to our Mission this time round!

Again speaking from personal experience, Guru is communicating through "frequency" ... earth is magnetic energy, all is ENERGY. When we read/sing Gurbani we are tuning into frequency of ONE. Our consciousness is being tuned into Gurus Wisdom. ONE IS ALL THE UNIVERSE, manifested and un-manifested. Love is the highest frequency we can emit from our pores. Love ALL and ALL will use each of us as vehicles to spread more love / vibration. ONE means ALL created beings, humans, animals, nature, technology ALL inclusive, no duality.

Do not be surprised that a sense of comedy will begin to unravel. Life/Love/Guru is a simple Drama/Game (Jugat Tamasha) we have to tune into and then we will get it and never look back but Chardi Kala (upward spiral we will all go.)

After playing the world-drama, when Thou wilt stop the play, Thou wilt be the same One again.81.

Very nice Post ZaraOne,

All exists within God, god can speak from any tongue of any human at any time...
so you will hear God speak when you need to hear something of importance and guidance. He will also direct you to books, an internet site, a location on earth to get the 'TRUTH' to you. Its him pulling the strings and not your Mind when you call on Him with a heartfelt ardaas.

I'm also a firm believer in that if you Meditate on the TRUTH (God), that the TRUTH will start to show itself and come out around you.
The True feeling and goings on in Family, Friends, Social Circles etc all start to come out...sometimes the events will be shocking, hurtful, potential to cause anger in you...but if your doing your Simran, you will pass through it OK and look back and know that you experienced the TRUTH and are grateful to have had that experience.

We should maybe start a thread for the users who are doing Daily Continual Meditation so that we can discuss our experiences/obstacles etc etc ...

Meditation as practiced by many is an insulting way to treat the way of our Guru ji and Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Let me explain!

You make the effort to study and respect Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. When you do that intensly, meditative equivalent aspects are just a bye product. You get much more than an emptiness versus the always aware guidance of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji which is espoused so strongly by our Guru ji. Meditation is not a one shot deal to close the eyes and create peace within. In this form it is no different than say jogging with specific purpose and benefit. If somehow people are going to believe and do meditation as a way to understand Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and pay respect to our Guru ji, I very sincerely believe that this will lead to utter failure in the end. One would be in the sixties, all peace and quiet with little learning to show and little knowledge of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and our Guru ji's teachings.

Doing mala/beads is of course much easier, perhaps enjoyable, gives you feedback as to doing something, but what are you left with in your head at the end of it vis-a-vis Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and Guru ji's wisdom as a Sikh!

As a Sikhs the focus on tools versus knowledge is very misplaced in many instances and it is unfortunate for the future of Sikhism.

We all need to keep such in proper perspectives.

Sat Sri Akal.

absolutely agree, Chazji, will respond to your most excellent post later tonight

In gurbani page 722 Line 13 is a tuk about how to obtain our Husband Lord God.

This particular part touched me intensely but I have not obtained my Lord yet. It is a motivation for me to do so.

aap gavaa-ee-ai taa saho paa-ee-ai, a-or kaisee chaturaa-ee.
Give up your selfhood and so obtain your Husband Lord; what other clever tricks are of any use?

Satnaam Ambarsaria Ji,

I think the purpose of Simran and mediation is for the following:

a(n)tharagath theerathh mal naao ||
cleanse yourself with the Name, at the sacred shrine deep within.

pooran bho man t(h)our baso ras baasan sio j dheha(n) dhis dhhaayo ||
My mind has become perfect; it dwells in the Lord's Place; it had been wandering in all directions, in its desire for tastes and pleasures.

a(n)thar mal niramal nehee keenaa baahar bhaekh oudhaasee ||
You have not cleansed the filth from within yourself, although outwardly, you wear the dress of a renunciate.

naam dhaan eisanaan n manamukh thith than dhhoorr dhhumaaee ||1||
The self-willed manmukh does not remember the Name of the Lord, does not give in charity, and does not cleanse his consciousness; his body rolls in the dust. ||1||

Surely the The purpose is to cleanse yourself of Ego, Pride, Anger, Desire, Attachments. If we are influenced by any of the above to any extent at all...then we are no use to each other and to ourselves.

That is the purpose...The emptiness is not having the disruptive millions of thoughts that try to put us to no good wizzing around in our heads and whats left is the Divine Thought...the one thought that is the only thought worth listening to as it comes from God. With that comes the awarenes you refer to, because you are now 100% aware that all is god and you treat all as god and god will assist you with helping others that are afflicted with Ego, Anger, Pride, Lust, Desire etc.

How do we do this?

man mailaa eiv sudhh hai har naam dhhiaaeae ||17||
In this way, his filthy mind is cleansed and purified, and he meditates on the Name of the Lord. ||17||

sabadh dhhopai thaa hashhee hovai fir mailee mool n hoee hae ||10||
But if it is washed with the Word of the Shabad, then it is truly cleansed, and it shall never be soiled again.

naam laith at(h)asat(h) majanaaeiaa ||1||
Repeating the Naam, one is cleansed at the sixty-eight sacred shrines. ||1||

naanak chuleeaa sucheeaa jae bhar jaanai koe ||
O Nanak, the mouth is truly cleansed by ritual cleansing, if you really know how to do it.

thaaran tharan samrathh kalijug sunath samaadhh sabadh jis kaerae ||
The All-powerful Guru is the Boat to carry us across in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga. Hearing the Word of His Shabad, we are transported into Samaadhi

pa(n)chaa kaa gur eaek dhhiaan ||
The chosen ones meditate single-mindedly on the Guru.

sach milai sa(n)thokheeaa har jap eaekai bhaae ||1||
Those contented souls who meditate on the Lord with single-minded love, meet the True Lord. ||1||

naao dhhiaaeeai naao ma(n)geeai naamae sehaj samaae ||1||
Meditate on the Name, worship the Name, and through the Name, you shall be absorbed in intuitive peace and poise. ||1||

jin sabadh guroo sun ma(n)niaa thin man dhhiaaeiaa har soe ||
Those who hear and believe in the Word of the Guru's Shabad, meditate on the Lord in their minds.

This quote from Guru Ji i really Love..its Guru Ji talking to his own mind :)
eae man aalas kiaa karehi guramukh naam dhhiaae ||1|| rehaao ||
O mind, why are you so lazy? Become Gurmukh, and meditate on the Naam. ||1||Pause||

How many of us can truely say we have defeated all of the above and removed the filth from within....because if we have, then we would be shouting out with Joy just like Guru Nanak Dev Ji below :)

binava(n)th naanak maeree eishh pu(n)nee milae jis khoja(n)thee ||1||
Prays Nanak, my desires are fulfilled; I have met the One I was seeking. ||1||

kahu naanak prabh milae manohar man seethal bigasaarae ||2||3||29||
Says Nanak, I have met my Enticing Lord God; my mind is cooled and soothed - it blossoms forth in joy.

gehi bhujaa leenhee praem bheenee milan preetham sach magaa ||
He has taken me by the arm, and I am saturated with His Love; I have met my Beloved on the Path of Truth.

prabh paekhath eishhaa pu(n)neeaa mil saajan jee kae raam ||
Gazing upon God, my desires are fulfilled; I have met the Lord, the Friend of my soul.

I think whatever works for each individual is worth continuing with. If we keep doing our heartfelt ardaas to god everyday i'm sure his grace will "take us by the arm" just like Guru Ji so lovingly described above.

God Bless all of us :)

Ambarsaria ji,
You need to elaborate on that post and make it clear. You have presented no reasoning for your opinions. Hence it does not really warrant a response since it is just that, an opinion.

Why do you think that is the case? What support is there for your opinions? Along the lines of: You believe what you believe but why do you believe it?

I see no point in offering my own translation of the shabad in question, your faith ,enthusiasm, and sheer joy are an absolute pleasure to behold, and although I do not share it one iota, there is absolutely no way I am going to write something that has the potential to muddy it in anyway, although I have no doubt you have the tools to disarm my arguments completely. You absolutely really believe, it is most impressive, most touching and endearing, I for one am not of a mind to argue with you.

I say what I have said before, you fight with a sword, I , with a lance, we are wingmen together on the same path. In fact as long as you have a belief in one creator, consistent, and without birth or death, I am not of a mind to argue or question anybody.

Sorry Bhagat Singh ji I am not here to keep answering endless questions without equivalent effort from yourself to contribute in quantity/quality. I will start being an answering machine for you. 0:)

I will try to address posts where there is effort and we have good collection.

And I will not respond unless I see a significant effort from you to properly reason out your arguments. Constantly blurting out opinions is fine but it helps everyone more when one makes an argument, when one provides reasoning for their opinion, in a discussion.

Cheers 0:)

Satnaam Ji,

It is a pleasure talking to you and the rest of ths Sangat on this website.
Sangat is a beautiful thing when we can talk and discuss and progress togther but only when there is no anger, hate, animosity towards each other. There is a reason why there are so many forms in Gods creation...its because He is infinite and we all have our own uniqueness.

I respect all your thoughts and reasoning...god bless you.

I try to write from the heart. I try to invoke the Guru Ji inside of me when i write something...but that doesnt mean what is say is 100% correct or divine because i am still inflicted by Ego, Lust, anger. But i'll continue praying that i become a better person on the inside so that i can be a better and more truthful person on the outside towards everyone.

Within me is the thirst for the Lord's Name; may the Guru, in His Pleasure, grant it to me. ||1||Pause||

Chaz you truly do write from the heart and you have inspired me.

In life nothing else will matter except the "experiences." As we discussed earlier I would highly recommend an "experiential section on this site) so we can ALL Learn. In Anand Sahib Guru say's we must share our stories if we are experiencing Guru Ji.

We are here to experience Life to the full as one humanity. EK (1.) Someone mentioned parable riddle above. Mandaavani means riddle. I had no clue on this. Went shopping at a store in Toronto called Sacha Sauda. Was sharing some of the ODD experiences I was having with word play. I.E. Guru (inner teacher) started to tune my consciousness to the fact that the world is not English but I should read words in mother tongue but English phonetically i.e. America = AMER (immortal) Ica = One. Adidas Adi - Primordial Das = servant. Book written by spiritualist his name was Ekhart Tolle = EK heart tolle (one heart weighed.) When chap told me about riddle, I began to understand Guru's guidance. My inner guidance was suggesting look at the world like a game. Play it well because the clues are hidden within people and people of ALL cultures. While driving home near Campbellville (camp bell ville) camp of the bells - saw a window company and sign read Riddley Windows - translated to Riddle Y (say Y phonetically sounds like Wahe.) Next day turned on TV and an american footballer was wearing a helmet with Riddle written on the forehead area. Then I really, really got it! Watched movie Stone and there was a religion room. Books on Krishna, Buddha and Guru Gobind Singh with words How Far Will You Go To Follow Me and next book was on Tuning Energy (a new spiritual system). The prison guard walks into the scene wearing a Name tag Riddle!! ! I realized Guru was connecting through words, riddles, parables and people and "speaking silently" in ways that I had never imagined. I found a riddle poem by NamDev where he plays on a three phased word riddle.

When we tune inward - Guru guides us all with Joy, Fun, Celebration of Life and an upbeat enthusiasm to serve each other. No ego, just simply an energy of LOVE. This is a feeling like no other. Energy is a resonance and that resonance is within us. That resonance spills over from us as we meet people and find "connections" we could never have imagined.

My only sincere prayer is that we all LOVE each other in all our words and deeds and begin to unite with the whole of humanity. My personal experiences started to bloom way out beyond my thinking into cultures I had previously stayed away simply because of fear of connecting beyond my comfort zone. When I realized that there were 40 Sikh Martyrs and 40 Christian Martyrs not long after I received a phone call from the Hamilton Gurdwara in Canada asking me to speak on Sikhism to 40 Christians who were coming to visit!! Guru dispelled my ignorance and confirmed we are all ONE simply different costumes as the ONE likes to play the Game. The Christians gave me a book parables on Jesus. Some of his sayings are eerie in that they resonate words of Sikh Guru's - sesame seed, needle, those that are high will be humbled and low will rise etc etc. They mentioned a Singh (Sadhu Sundar SIngh) who had left the Khalsa and turned to Christianity because he did not find the original Love as taught by the Sikh Guru's. They gave me a video on this chap Journey to the Sky (Akash) and were very proud in announcing that a Sikh became a Christian. I simply observe and did not judge. A hukamnamma was given during their visit and it relayed Saints You need to cross over the ocean.

I watched the video and it was interesting because the chap wanted to walk the steps of Jesus in serving humanity with Love and reminding all to unite as one brotherhood of one heavenly father. When I flipped the video I saw the title "Crown Entertainment" (what is the crown - Sky!) and then I understood ... it is a Game a Play that has been set up like no other. There was a small typo Running Rime (instead of running time!) nothing is an accident simply clues to the Fun! If a Singh empowered Christians through his "link" back to the source, so be it. The Creator will play whatever it takes to get the message across. Finally while the Christians were at the Gurdwara one ran back to the kitchen, "Jesus" a man shouted out. I was amazed he was dark skinned brother and reminded me of Guru Gobind Singh's words "He is not just the Dark Skinned Krisha of legends!) ALL Saints are ONE and playing with ONE Infinite Creator. We can choose to play or not. All is a choice and I choose Life and evolution of humanity as ONE.

As ONE is, so does ONE appear;
In ONE's Own creation, ONE is pervading.
Searching, searching, searching, and finally, success!
By Guru's Grace, the essence of all reality is understood.
Wherever I look, there I see ONE, at the root of all things.
O Nanak, ONE is the subtle, and ONE is also the manifest.
Nothing is born, and nothing dies.
ONE stages ONE's own drama.
Coming and going, seen and unseen,
All the world is obedient to ONE's Will.
SGGS - 281

With Love and Blessings to All - as he inspires so I speak the Truth we are all ONE.

Hi ZaraOne, it is a pleasure talking to you and learning from your experiences :)

All is Him, He will guide you, nurture you, protect you from the corrupt, Signs are around us all the time. The creation is Gods domain, he uses it as He so pleases:

sabh hee madhh sabhehi thae baahar baemuhathaaj baapaa ||2||
Inside of all, and outside of all, You are our Self-sufficient Father. ||2|| Siree Raag
51

har thisai no saalaahi j thudhh rakhai baahar ghar ||
Praise that Lord who protects you, inside your home, and outside as well. Siree Raag

a(n)thar baahar sa(n)g hai naanak kaae dhuraae ||1||
Inside and outside, He is with you. O Nanak, what can be hidden from Him? ||1|| Raag Gauree 259

a(n)thar baahar eaek pashhaanai eio ghar mehal sin(j)aapai ||
Realize that the One God is inside and outside; understand this, that the Mansion of His Presence is within the home of your heart. Raag Raamkalee

How do we connect with Him?

a(n)thar baahar thaeree baanee ||
The Word of Your Bani is inside and outside as well.

If he is there with us on the inside, why struggle first to look for him on the outide, when he is so close to us already :)

mehal saah kaa kin bidhh paavai ||
How can I attain the Mansion of the Lord's Presence? p181

kavan s bidhh jith bheethar bulaavai ||
How can I get Him to call me inside? p181

khojath khojath nij ghar paaeiaa ||
Seeking and searching, I have found my own home, deep within my own being. p181

bisaman bisam bheae jo paekhiou kehan n jaae vaddiaaee ||
I was wonderstruck and astonished, when I looked inside; I cannot even describe its glory and grandeur.

magan bheae oohaa sa(n)g maathae outh poth lapattaaee ||1||
I am intoxicated and enraptured with it, and I am wrapped in it, through and through. ||1||

Can there be any more beautiful shabad as that above...i just want to be wrapped in it, feel it through and through, contemplate on it, meditate on it and maybe one day i;ll be wonderstruck and astonished unable to describe its glory and grandeur.

I am going to start writing a lot of my thoughts down, things that i see etc etc... and do what you do. It sounds like good fun and exciting :) we just need to open our eyes and god (the one supreme consciousness) all around us.

God bless you.
