Bhagat Kabir Ji tells us about what happens to us when we recognize our real self. No Paryanam is needed to clean ourselves- we just get cleansed.

ik-okaar satgur parsaad.
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

banDhach banDhan paa-i-aa.
Maya, the Trapper, has sprung her trap.

muktai gur anal bujhaa-i-aa.
The Guru, the Liberated One, has put out the fire.

jab nakh sikh ih man cheenHaa.
When I came to understand this mind, from the tips of my toes to the crown of my head,

tab antar majan keenHaa.

then I took my cleansing bath, deep within my self.

pavanpat unman rahan kharaa.
The mind, the master of the breath, abides in the state of supreme bliss.

nahee mirat na janam jaraa.
There is no death, no re-birth, and no aging for me now.

ultee lay sakat sahaaraN.
Turning away from materialism, I have found intuitive support.

paiseelay gagan majhaaraN.
I have entered into the sky of the mind, and opened the Tenth Gate.

bayDhee-alay chakar bhuangaa.
The chakras of the coiled Kundalini energy have been opened,

bhaytee-alay raa-ay nisangaa.
and I have met my Sovereign Lord King without fear.

chookee-alay moh ma-i-aasaa.
My attachment to Maya has been eradicated;

sas keeno soor giraasaa.
the moon energy has devoured the sun energy.

jab kumbhak bharipur leenaa.
When I was focused and merged into the all-pervading Lord,

tah baajay anhad beenaa.
then the unstruck sound current began to vibrate.

baktai bak sabad sunaa-i-aa.
The Speaker has spoken, and proclaimed the Word of the Shabad.

suntai sun man basaa-i-aa.
The hearer has heard, and enshrined it in the mind.

kar kartaa utras paaraN.
Chanting to the Creator, one crosses over.

kahai kabeeraa saaraN.
Says Kabeer, this is the essence.

And Guru Granth preaches us to stop all the hypocritical practices:

krih ibBUiq lgwvih BsmY ] (1043-10, mwrU, mÚ 1)
karahi bibhoot lagaaveh bhasmai.
Some collect dust, and smear their bodies with ashes;
AMqir k®oDu cMfwlu su haumY ] (1043-10, mwrU, mÚ 1)
antar kroDh chandaal so ha-umai.
but deep within them are the outcasts of anger and egotism.
pwKMf kIny jogu n pweIAY ibnu siqgur AlKu n pwieAw ]12] (1043-11, mwrU, mÚ 1)
pakhand keenay jog na paa-ee-ai bin satgur alakh na paa-i-aa. ||12||
Practicing hypocrisy, Yoga is not obtained; without the True Guru, the unseen Lord is not found. ||12||
qIrQ vrq nym krih auidAwnw ] (1043-11, mwrU, mÚ 1)
tirath varat naym karahi udi-aanaa.
Some make vows to visit sacred shrines of pilgrimage, keep fasts and live in the forest.
jqu squ sMjmu kQih igAwnw ] (1043-12, mwrU, mÚ 1)
jat sat sanjam katheh gi-aanaa.
Some practice chastity, charity and self-discipline, and speak of spiritual wisdom.
rwm nwm ibnu ikau suKu pweIAY ibnu siqgur Brmu n jwieAw ]13] (1043-12, mwrU, mÚ 1)
raam naam bin ki-o sukh paa-ee-ai bin satgur bharam na jaa-i-aa. ||13||
But without the Lord's Name, how can anyone find peace? Without the True Guru, doubt is not dispelled. ||13||
inaulI krm BuieAMgm BwTI ] (1043-13, mwrU, mÚ 1)
ni-ulee karam bhu-i-angam bhaathee.
Inner cleansing techniques, channeling the energy to raise the Kundalini to the Tenth Gate,
ryck kuMBk pUrk mn hwTI ] (1043-13, mwrU, mÚ 1)
raychak kumbhak poorak man haathee.
inhaling, exhaling and holding the breath by the force of the mind -
pwKMf Drmu pRIiq nhI hir sau gur sbd mhw rsu pwieAw ]14] (1043-14, mwrU, mÚ 1)
pakhand Dharam pareet nahee har sa-o gur sabad mahaa ras paa-i-aa. ||14||
by empty hypocritical practices, Dharmic love for the Lord is not produced. Only through the Word of the Guru's Shabad is the sublime, supreme essence obtained. ||14||
