SSA,
I have been experimenting trying to convert punjabi text based pdfs to editable text.But with no success.Does anyone know how to do it.

One method tried is converting pdf to image and than opening image with google docs which makes it editable .This works with few pages but becomes time consuming with more number of pages.

Your best bet is PDF editing software, either FoxIT or Acrobat.

If you are not concerned about preserving formatting, you can try some Linux based command tools like pdftotext.

It would help, if you can provide example pdfs.

They should, mostly fonts will be embedded within the PDF. If you can shed more light on what you want to achieve and the pdf doc it might be easier for me to actually figure out the details.

Attached herewith is the converted editable docx file...

How to do it?

I was able to convert in a few easy steps:

1. Open the pdf file with gurmukhi/panjabi text >
2. Select and copy all of its contents;
3. Go to: http://g2s.learnpunjabi.org/unipad.aspx
4. Post the pdf contents into the big white box;
5. Click Font > Unicode; You are done!
6. Now, copy the converted text and paste it into Microsoft Word Document.
7. Save the file in to .doc or .docx.

Finally , I was able to convert a pdf to editable text (two files attached for reference ) .

Method I followed was :
a. Finding Embedded font Using a Pdf reader (Foxit Reader in my case).
b. Check whether the font is installed in the system.
c. Using Calibre software ,selecting the same font while doing the settings and then converting it into text file.
d. Using Microsoft Word to do paragraph and other settings to the text.
