In the early part of Sidh Gohst, Guru Nanak Dave ji are asked these questions. This is almost in a format of a respectful Question/Answer or Interview style of composition. We learn of Gur Nanak Dev ji’s succinct thoughts on many a common philosophically and worldly question.

Let us review the following,

Sidhas/Yogis ask:

ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਪੂਛਉ ਸਾਚੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੋ ॥ ਰੋਸੁ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ਉਤਰੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਕਿਉ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਰ ਦੁਆਰੋ ॥
Suṇ su▫āmī arḏās hamārī pūcẖẖa▫o sācẖ bīcẖāro. Ros na kījai uṯar ḏījai ki▫o pā▫ī▫ai gur ḏu▫āro.
Listen honorable one our request and ask so that you answer truthfully and with thought. Don’t mind it, do answer; How to reach creator’s abode?

Guru Ji’s answers:

ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਚਲਤਉ ਸਚ ਘਰਿ ਬੈਸੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੋ ॥ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ਕਰਤਾ ਲਾਗੈ ਸਾਚਿ ਪਿਆਰੋ ॥੬॥
Ih man cẖalṯa▫o sacẖ gẖar baisai Nānak nām aḏẖāro. Āpe mel milā▫e karṯā lāgai sācẖ pi▫āro. ||6||
Guru Nanak Dev ji state, one unsteady distracting mind stays at the truthful place. The creator by self so enables to the ones so truly loved.

Guru ji wonderfully state that such happens ever so naturally. Knowing of the creator in living is the key. No hardships, hard regimens or all such “dhakvanj”/convolutions are needed.

Question becomes Guru ji’s teach us about all world is as though tranquil and self executing how does it reflect in our living as Sikhs?

This dialogue, is so strong that just a single answer in a few words by Nanak, itself tells you so much more.

As above, from shabad,
The unsteady or deluded mind stays at it's truthful place (man chalt-o sach ghar basai) which is it's True home, within us.
The creator 'ape mel mila-e' himself arranges the meeting and enabling.

What is important here, is that one should NOT be chasing the actions of the Guru, but should be practicing the deeds ordained by the Guru instead.- the Truth.
To realise God, one doesn't need to be looking for the door (dua-ro) to enter. 'Within' is where he resides and he comes to meet himself once you are settled in the correct place.

The sidha's would think'' are they in the correct place ?'' OR They feel that they are near the Guru's door with regards to their lifestyle and location!

No need to go searching in caves and mountains, it's all there calmly settled ''within''.

I believe the following Pauri from Japji Sahib may be of consideration for this thread,

ਕਰਮ ਖੰਡ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਜੋਰੁ ॥ ਤਿਥੈ ਹੋਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰੁ ॥
Karam kẖand kī baṇī jor. Ŧithai hor na ko▫ī hor.

ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ਵਾਲੀ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਦੀ ਬਨਾਵਟ ਬਲ ਹੈ, (ਭਾਵ, ਜਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀਨਜ਼ਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਬਲ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ-ਵਿਕਾਰ ਉਸਉੱਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਪਰਭਾਵ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੇ), ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਦੂਜਾ ਉੱਕਾ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ।

ਕਰਮ = ਬਖਸ਼ਸ਼। ਬਾਣੀ = ਬਨਾਵਟ। ਜੋਰੁ = ਬਲ, ਤਾਕਤ। ਹੋਰੁ = ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਦੂਜਾ। ਹੋਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰੁ = ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਉੱਕਾ ਹੀ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
Strength of the blessed state where nothing else prevails.

ਤਿਥੈ ਜੋਧ ਮਹਾਬਲ ਸੂਰ ॥ ਤਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰ ॥
Ŧithai joḏẖ mahābal sūr. Ŧin mėh rām rahi▫ā bẖarpūr.
ਉਸ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ(ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਨ ਉਹ) ਜੋਧੇ, ਮਹਾਂਬਲੀ ਤੇ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਰੋਮ ਰੋਮ ਵਿਚ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਜੋਧ = ਜੋਧੇ। ਮਹਾਬਲ = ਵੱਡੇ ਬਲ ਵਾਲੇ। ਸੂਰ = ਸੂਰਮੇ। ਤਿਨ ਮਹਿ = ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ। ਰਾਮੁ = ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ। ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਭੂਰ = ਨਕਾ-ਨਕ ਭਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਰੋਮ ਰੋਮ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
There such strong supreme warriors have the creator imbued in them.

ਤਿਥੈ ਸੀਤੋ ਸੀਤਾ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਮਾਹਿ ॥ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਰੂਪ ਨ ਕਥਨੇ ਜਾਹਿ ॥
Ŧithai sīṯo sīṯā mahimā māhi. Ŧā ke rūp na kathne jāhi.
ਉਸ (ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼) ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ ਅੱਪੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਨਿਰੋਲ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਵਿਚ ਪਰੋਤਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਉਹਨਾਂਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਕੰਚਨ ਦੀ ਵੰਨੀ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਰਣਨਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਉੱਤੇ ਨੂਰ ਹੀ ਨੂਰ ਲਿਸ਼ਕਦਾ ਹੈ)।
ਸੀਤੋ ਸੀਤਾ = ਪੂਰਨ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਸੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਪਰੋਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਮਹਿਮਾ = (ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੀ) ਸਿਫਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ, ਵਡਿਆਈ। ਮਾਹਿ = ਵਿਚ।
ਤਾ ਕੇ = ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ। ਰੂਪ = ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸਰੂਪ। ਨ ਕਥਨੇ ਜਾਹਿ = ਕਥੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ।
There the fully embroided is creator’s praise, such persona cannot be described.

ਨਾ ਓਹਿ ਮਰਹਿ ਨ ਠਾਗੇ ਜਾਹਿ ॥ ਜਿਨ ਕੈ ਰਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
Nā ohi marėh na ṯẖāge jāhi. Jin kai rām vasai man māhi.
(ਇਸ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ) ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਰਦੇ ਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਠੱਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਓਹਿ = ਉਹ ਬੰਦੇ। ਨਾ ਮਰਹਿ = ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਮਰਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨ। ਨ ਠਾਗੇ ਜਾਹਿ = ਠੱਗੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਠੱਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ।)
ਵਸਹਿ = ਵੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ।
Such don’t die or are cheated in whose minds the creator lives.

ਤਿਥੈ ਭਗਤ ਵਸਹਿ ਕੇ ਲੋਅ ॥ ਕਰਹਿ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਸਚਾ ਮਨਿ ਸੋਇ ॥
Ŧithai bẖagaṯ vasėh ke lo▫a. Karahi anand sacẖā man so▫e.
ਉਸ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ ਕਈ ਭਵਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਭਗਤ ਜਨ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਸਦਾ ਖਿੜੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਉਹ ਸੱਚਾ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਮੌਜੂਦ) ਹੈ।
ਲੋਅ = ਲੋਕ, ਭਵਣ। ਕੇ ਲੋਅ = ਕਈ ਭਵਣਾਂ ਦੇ। (ਵੇਖੋ ਪਉੜੀ ੩੪ ਵਿਚ 'ਕੇ ਰੰਗ')। ਕਰਹਿ ਅਨੰਦ = ਅਨੰਦ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸਦਾ ਖਿੜੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸਚਾ ਸੋਇ = ਉਹ ਸੱਚਾ ਹਰੀ। ਮਨਿ = (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ।
Many pious so reside in such surrounding and those are so joyous in their minds.

ਸਚ ਖੰਡਿ ਵਸੈ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ॥ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥
Sacẖ kẖand vasai nirankār. Kar kar vekẖai naḏar nihāl.
ਸੱਚ ਖੰਡ ਵਿਚ (ਭਾਵ,ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ ਰੂਪ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ) ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਹ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਰਚ ਰਚ ਕੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਚਿ = ਸੱਚ ਵਿਚ। ਸਚਿ ਖੰਡਿ = ਸਚ ਖੰਡ ਵਿਚ। ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ = ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਰਚ ਕੇ। ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ = ਨਿਹਾਲ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਨਾਲ। ਵੇਖੈ = ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
In united truth unison the creator so resides, such in so doing watches with effervescence happiness.

ਤਿਥੈ ਖੰਡ ਮੰਡਲ ਵਰਭੰਡ ॥ ਜੇ ਕੋ ਕਥੈ ਤ ਅੰਤ ਨ ਅੰਤ ॥
Ŧithai kẖand mandal varbẖand. Je ko kathai ṯa anṯ na anṯ.
ਉਸਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ (ਭਾਵ, ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ-ਰੂਪ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ) ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰਬੇਅੰਤ ਖੰਡ, ਮੰਡਲ ਤੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮੰਡ (ਦਿੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ, ਇਤਨੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਕਿ) ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਕਥਨ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗੇ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਓੜਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦੇ।
ਵਰਭੰਡ = ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮੰਡ। ਕੋ = ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ। ਕਥੈ = ਦੱਸਣ ਲੱਗੇ, ਬਿਆਨ ਕਰੇ। ਤ ਅੰਤ ਨ ਅੰਤ = ਇਹਨਾਂ ਖੰਡਾਂ ਮੰਡਲਾਂ ਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮੰਡਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦੇ।
There so realized the realms and supreme constellations, if one were to describe there is no end.

ਤਿਥੈ ਲੋਅ ਲੋਅ ਆਕਾਰ ॥ ਜਿਵ ਜਿਵ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਤਿਵੈ ਤਿਵ ਕਾਰ ॥
Ŧithai lo▫a lo▫a ākār. Jiv jiv hukam ṯivai ṯiv kār.
ਉਸ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਭਵਣ ਤੇ ਅਕਾਰ ਦਿੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਉਸੇਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਾਰ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਇਸ ਅਵਸਥਾਵਿਚ ਅੱਪੜ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਰਤਦੀ ਦਿੱਸਦੀ ਹੈ)।
ਲੋਅ ਲੋਅ = ਕਈ ਲੋਕ, ਕਈ ਭਵਨ।
Many a people so sustaining in such state, as the direction such so proceeds.

ਵੇਖੈ ਵਿਗਸੈ ਕਰਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਥਨਾ ਕਰੜਾ ਸਾਰੁ ॥੩੭॥
vekẖai vigsai kar vīcẖār. Nānak kathnā karṛā sār. ||37||
(ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਤੱਖ ਦਿਸੱਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਵੀਚਾਰ ਕਰਕੇ (ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ) ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਖੁਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਇਸ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਦਾ ਕਥਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਔਖਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਇਹ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ, ਅਨੁਭਵ ਹੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ) ॥੩੭॥
ਵਿਗਸੈ = ਵਿਗਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕਰਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ = ਵੀਚਾਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ। ਕਥਨਾ = ਕਥਨ ਕਰਨਾ, ਬਿਆਨ ਕਰਨਾ। ਸਾਰੁ = ਲੋਹਾ। ਕਰੜਾ ਸਾਰੁ = ਕਰੜਾ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਲੋਹਾ ਹੈ।
So seeing and realizing happiness abounds, Nanak to describe such is as hard as though of iron.
