Ludhiana, Punjab (December 21, 2013): As per information available with the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) a Sikh youth named Gurpreet Singh Guri Hans was released late this evening from Central Jail Ludhiana. Advocate Gurjinder Singh Sahni told SSN over phone that Gurpreet Singh’s bail was secured today from the Ludhiana police administration and he was released from jails.
Advocate Gurjinder Singh Sahni and Damandeep Singh Khalsa received him Gurpreet Singh outside Ludhiana Jail.
Gurpreet Singh Guri Hans had attempted to use the stage of so-called World Kabaddi Cup on November 14, 2013 during final match at Ludhiana. He was booked by Division Number 8 police station of Ludhiana under 107/151 (Cr. P. C.), preventive detention clauses. He was sent to Ludhiana jail.
Gurpreet Singh Guri’s released was delayed by some days because the police administration was not accepting his bail.
It is notable that due to application of Police Commissioner system in Ludhiana the power to grant bail in these cases lies with the police (in normal situation this power lies with the magistrate).
