[QUOTE="Nirmaljot Baidwan, post: 210078, member: 14498"] Sat Sri akal Ji, I would try and contemplate and present my view on the quoted bani. According to me ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸਿਖ ਸੁਣਿ has a deeper meaning which not only means listening to the teachings of the true guru but also obeying those teachings and applying them in day to day routine, because mere listening to the teachings and not obeying them will not take the soul bride to its ultimate abode. ਗੁਣੀ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ does not mean treasure of virtues but god or satpurakh who is in fact the treasure of virtues. The bestowal of peace and happiness enshrines in your mind; and your ego and pride disappear. < Contemplating on this tuk definitely makes clear one thing and that is ਏ ਮਨ in the first tuk does not refer to mind but has a deeper meaning. What can be that deeper meaning? It can be the person or group of people who were sitting in front of guru sahib while he spoke this shabad. Now the first line and second line definitely makes it clear that ਏ ਮਨ is definitely used for some one sitting in front of guru sahib i.e. a seeker like you and me. I say this because in this second tuk guru sahib say” ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾਤੇਰੈਮਨਿਵਸੈ”, if guru sahib were referring to mind in the first tuk then the second tuk will mean that “The bestower of happiness enshrining in the mind of mind” O mind the bestower of happiness (God or satpurakh) will enshrine in your mind if you listen to the teachings of the true guru, which definitely is not what guru sahib meant here. > ਨਾਨਕਨਦਰੀਪਾਈਐਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁਗੁਣੀਨਿਧਾਨੁ॥੨॥ <We can take a lot out of this tuk once these three tuks are contemplated in an entirety. In the first tuk guru sahib is saying that listen to the teachings of the true Guru and you shall realize the one god who is treasure of virtues, once you do that the second tuk states that doing this God or satpurakh who is bestower of happiness will dwell in your mind and your ego will vanish because when he dwells in your mind then there is no I but he and hence ego shall go away after that in the third tuk guru sahib says that this can only be possible if The God almighty showers his grace on you and you find a true guru whose teaching you can listen to and obey. > So everything is interlinked and has a chain in the process of god realization. It is not random but a very subtle process by which the bride soul meets her husband lord in which the Guru is the mediator (ਵਿਚੋਲਾ). On analysing the shabad backward the following flow is obtained: God showers grace on soul bride Soul bride finds a true guru Soul listen to the teachings of true guru and obeys the teachings Soul realizes the lord within.
