Fashion show to boost Sikh group's funds
FASHIONING funds isn't easy for charities these days.
But a fashion show and a grant from an Edinburgh-based funding body look set to ease a "difficult" financial situation for Leith charity group Sikh Sanjog.
The organisation, which supports women and their families from the Sikh and black and ethnic communities, has been awarded £6000 by the Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland.
The money will go towards the salary of an administrator whose job will be to help manage the group's finances.
The charity hopes a new venture being staged by one of its two youth groups will further boost funds.
A group of 12 Sikh girls, aged from 12 to 18, are to stage a fashion show - The Punjabi Pataka - at South Leith Parish Church on Saturday as part of their work for a Duke of Edinburgh's Award.
