Reason overrides urge to ingest as much as our energy output requirements, an ingrained survival mechanism overrides sense and mortal consumes beyond his personal necessity and gains weight accruing health problems thereby. </span></span></span></p><p> </p><p><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="color: #333333"><span style="font-family: 'Baskerville Old Face'">Will craves serotonin rich foods, aan, as carbohydrate foods containing chemicals produce a comforting effect upon the psyche. The mind knows a low energy lifestyle permits not a high carbohydrate diet and reason dictates we undergo a period of three days to forty, to enable the body to eliminate the chemicals causing craving for foodstuffs, action, watching tv, excessive talkativeness caused by internal stress, irrational mood swings caused by hormonal imbalance, etc to ward off addiction. The body requires a period to cleanse itself of any addiction, but one must understand the cause and nature of the power of Sangat, nutrition, thinking causing an effect upon a person’s bio-system. </span></span></span></p><p> </p><p><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="color: #333333"><span style="font-family: 'Baskerville Old Face'">In Punjab we understand foodstuffs may have side effects, for example rice causes excess phlegm, we add cloves and ginger to counteract this negative effect to assist good health. Eastern society is very mindful of cause and effect, of speech, behaviour, thinking, stress etc and its society’s are based upon support for one another in good and testing times. We understand speaking in anger causes loss of respect and standing amongst peers, and results in abrasiveness with hindsight indefensible.</span></span></span></p><p> </p><p><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="color: #333333"><span style="font-family: 'Baskerville Old Face'">The individual is a reactor in a volatile reactionary world. He evolves from a defensive existence, a retaliation against all that occurs about him, to a thinking, reasonable individual who curbs his speech according to the people about him, consumes what his mind and body requires, adjusts his responses to avoid unwarranted confrontations, curbs any irrational cravings for matter or material not useful to his physical and emotional wellbeing.</span></span></span></p><p> </p><p><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="color: #333333"><span style="font-family: 'Baskerville Old Face'">Recitation of prayers as obligation becomes habitual and indoctrinates the mind with Gurmat it may not understand at point of recitation but becomes crystal clear in later years when the mind is matured and consciousness expanded. We know lying, anger, beimaani, and egotism hinders the spiritual progress, whilst self discipline through following traditions, adhering to rigid religious routines until they become an integral part of our moral nature and character create autonomous and self sufficient thinking people. </span></span></span></p><p> </p><p><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="color: #333333"><span style="font-family: 'Baskerville Old Face'">For these few reasons self discipline, and discipline in ones deportment is essential in character building and spiritual awakening.
