Deep Singh of the Jakara Movement
to be Honored at SALDEF National Gala

Join us at the SALDEF National Gala in Washington, DC, on Saturday, October 8, 2011. Along with marking our fifteenth anniversary, we will commemorate the tenth anniversary of 9/11, honor our awardees, and enjoy cultural entertainment.

We are pleased to announce that Deep Singh will be recognized for his efforts to inspire and educate Sikh American youth through the Jakara Movement.

Deep Singh is one of the co-founders of the Jakara Movement, one of the premier Sikh youth organizations in the diaspora, working on issues of social, health, and educational justice. As a sevadar with the Jakara Movement for over a decade, he has aided in the establishment of Lalkaar, Sikholars, The Langar Hall, and a host of other projects throughout California. He is well-known amongst the California Sikh youth for his passion, dedication, and intelligence and amongst various Sikh organizations for his collaboration, assistance, and partnerships.
