Once again we are invisible! How would you set the matter straight? Here is the problem.

The Art Gallery of South Australia is hosting an exhibition called "Realms of Wonder: Explore the spiritual art of India" covering Jain, Hindu and Islamic Art (with at touch of Buddhism in some of the sessions).

Sikh Art is nowhere to be found!

Here's the newsletter: http://issuu.com/artgalleryofsouthau...nnect_issue_01

If Sikhi were to be included in an exhibition like this, and you yourself had access to all the artistic treasures within Sikhi, what would you have included, if anything?

Let your imagination go wild. :winkingkaur:

If you can't think of anything just this moment and off the top of your head, go to Sikh Art in Google Images and you might see just the right picture for your personal exhibition of Sikh Art.

If you do find something, upload the picture here!

ishna ji

Those are wonderful links. As an aside, I have found that most threads that seek member participation generally fall flat. Members who post frequently may or may not post on a thread such as this thread. There is a short list of topics where the posting members post and post often. This is not one of those topics. I honestly did not expect there would be much response to this thread.

I wonder if that's indicative of how Sikhs feel about art in general, and that's why the Art Gallery of South Australia has decided to skip it in their exhibition. haha

But really, the Sikh contribution to art is obviously largely in the world of literature. Fighting wars and running from Mughals doesn't leave much room for painting.

There, a statement like that should get some bites. :p

Oh, what about Sikh coins?! http://www.sikhphilosophy.net/sikh-coins/

To remedy this we need to support our Artists big and small. I would have shared this painting of a Sikh Groom. The painting was projected on the tallest Sky Scraper digitally in New York as part of an Exhibit in Nov. and in Miami, Florida Scope Art Fair in the 1st. week of Dec. It is part of my online Sikh Art Gallery. Take a look and share the link so more people know who we are. http://fineartamerica.com/featured/the-sikh-groom-sarabjit-singh.html

That painting is WoW! And it must have been spectacular as a digital display on a New York skyscraper.

Thank you for letting us in on your world.
