Last night, Sian was undaunted, she wanted to spend the night on the floor with Alfie, so we put a mattress on the floor, duvet, pillows, and they cuddled up and went to sleep. This morning, she was of the opinion that he was suffering and it was time for him to go,. the vet was due round at 12.30, but I got a call at 11, Alfie was peacefully lying in the garden, on the grass, dead.

I rushed home, Alfie had been brought into the kitchen and was lying in state, wrapped in a blanket, his favourite teddy bear in his paws, he was still warm, I closed his eyes, and after spending some time with him, we took him to the Vets. He had a good life, I will miss him, I know he was just a dog, but as I have no children, he was like a child to me, I would like to think Sian timed it just right as to when he should go, and hope he did not suffer while he was still alive, I still cannot believe he is gone,
